Hey, friends!
Welcome back!
My name is John, and today is a great day to learn something new.
So let’s do that together!
My name is Ann Marie, and you are joining us on Studio Classroom.
Friends, we’re so happy you are here!
I’ve got a hard question for everybody. Are you ready?
Ann Marie: Oh no... okay.
John: Ann Marie, let’s talk about it. Do you think you would be a good DJ? Why or why not?
Ann Marie: A good DJ? No, I would make a terrible DJ!
John: Okay, friends, do we know what a DJ is?
A DJ is someone who plays music for a crowd.
Before we decide if we’d be good DJs or not,
I think we should learn more about being a DJ.
Let’s read together:
So You Want to Be a DJ?
Use the Power of Your Playlist for Good!
Do you enjoy entertaining an audience?
Love music and know how to use technology?
If so, DJing might be a great career for you!
DJs, or disc jockeys, are artists who create memorable musical experiences for audiences.
Whether working on the radio, at a club, or for special events,
a DJ must engage and entertain listeners.
Hi, everyone! Welcome to Language Lab!
I’m Jack.
首先來看名詞 audience,意思是「觀眾」。
來看幾個例句:
The audience grumbled loudly when they heard the show would be delayed.
觀眾聽到演出將會延後時,大聲地抱怨。
Our target audience is ten- to fifteen-year-olds, so select themes appropriate for their age group.
我們的目標觀眾是 10 到 15 歲的青少年,所以請選擇適合這個年齡層的主題。
Ethan’s racing heart slowed once he saw his smiling parents in the audience.
當 Ethan 看到觀眾席上微笑的父母時,他狂跳的心臟就慢了下來。
Friends, our article title is a question: So You Want to Be a DJ?
Ann Marie: Hmm… I don’t know if we’re spelling that word right—wanna? What’s that?
John: Okay, friends, this is American slang.
A lot of times, when we want to say want to, we shorten it to wanna.
For example, instead of saying:
"Do you want to grab dinner with me later tonight?"
You could say:
"Do you wanna grab dinner with me later tonight?"
Of course, it means the exact same thing as want to—it’s just a shorter way of saying it.
There’s another word: gonna (G-O-N-N-A).
That’s short for going to.
So, if your friend says:
"Do you wanna get food later?"
You can respond:
"I’m gonna get food later, but I can’t think about it right now."
Ann Marie: That’s right!
John: But let’s look at this phrase in our reading:
Use the power of your playlist for good.
First, we need to talk about the idea of the power of something.
What we’re saying here is that this thing has the ability to produce an effect.
Oh! Okay! For example, we talk about the power of love—it’s so strong,
it helps people get along.
There’s another phrase we see here: the power of your playlist—
that’s a word you need to know!
A playlist is a list of songs chosen by a person or sometimes a radio station.
That’s right! For example, you might have a workout playlist when you exercise, work out, or go for a run. You have a specific playlist that you listen to.
So, friends, you’ve got your playlist, but will you be a good DJ?
Let’s read together:
Do you enjoy entertaining an audience, love music, and know how to use technology?
If so, DJing might be a great career for you!
This term here—DJing—that’s a verb, right?
That’s right! Sometimes, in English, we add -ing to a word to make it a verb.
We read on here:
DJs, or disc jockeys, are artists who create memorable musical experiences for audiences.
Now, we’re going to talk about this word audiences in just a moment, but first, let’s move on to our next sentence.
Okay, we read:
"Whether working on the radio, at a club, or for special events, a DJ must engage and entertain listeners."
Okay, there’s a lot here, but let’s start with that word engage.
Good idea!
The word engage means to attract and retain someone’s interest or attention.
So, the idea here is that DJs are playing music that keeps their listeners or audiences engaged.
And here is where we need to talk about audience and listener—what is the difference?
Ooh, okay! Listeners can be part of the audience, but listeners are people who hear something.
The word audience comes from the word audio, which means "to hear something."
So, you can refer to your audience as your listeners, but listener is a more specific term when talking about music.
Now, when we use the word audience, we’re often talking about people who are physically present while you’re playing music. They are sitting in the audience.
So, sometimes when DJs perform, there are people there listening live.
But listeners could be people who are in the audience, or they could be people listening to the radio.
That’s right! DJs play in all sorts of different places.
We read: "the radio, at a club, or for special events."
I’m sure you’ve heard a DJ if you’ve ever been to a wedding, for example!
There’s also this word here—jockey.
A jockey is someone who rides a horse, and a disc jockey is just the person controlling the discs—or the actual physical things that play the music.
It’s a fun word! And being a DJ sounds pretty fun.
But let’s go to the next section of our reading to learn more.
So You Wanna Be a DJ?
DJs need a particular skill set.
They must not only know various kinds of music but also select music to suit different events and audiences.
DJs must be confident in skillfully guiding their listeners through an enjoyable experience using music.
接下來看 various 這個形容詞,意思是「各種各樣的」。
例如:
The various jobs Madison did prior to starting her business gave her the breadth of experience she needed to be successful.
Madison 在創業前所從事的各種工作,為她提供了成功所需的廣度和經驗。
We have tried various creams, but the baby’s rash still won’t go away.
我們嘗試了各種藥膏,但寶寶的疹子還是沒有消退。
Various 的名詞是 variety,意思是「種類」。
例如:
To make a fruit salad, cut a variety of fruits into equal pieces, add yogurt, and mix well.
製作水果沙拉時,把各種水果切成均等的小塊,加入優格,然後攪拌均勻。
Friends, what does it take if you want to be a DJ?
Well, we read: "DJs need a particular skill set."
Okay, I know all those words independently, but what does particular skill set mean?
Great question!
This means that it’s a combination of different skills that someone has, and they can use those skills in a particular job.
So, if someone has a particular skill set, you’re saying that they’re talented or good at this specific thing.
Interesting! So, to be a DJ, you need a skill set that includes:
Being good at technology,
Knowing about music, and
Really loving to entertain people!
That’s your skill set!
Exactly! We’re going to learn more about that in this next sentence.
So, let’s read together:
"They must not only know various kinds of music but also select music."
Okay, we’ll read on in just a moment.
You learned about that word various a moment ago in the Language Lab.
There’s another word here that we want to look at, and that is select.
What does that mean, John?
It’s a verb, first of all, that means to choose.
But you use the word select when you have different options and you carefully decide on one.
You select that one.
Okay! Here’s an example of how you could use select in a sentence:
"Let’s select what we want to eat for dinner from the menu."
When you go to a restaurant and select what you want to eat, you’re usually thinking about what you want and choosing very carefully.
That’s right! Select can also be turned into a noun—selection.
A selection is a list of things from which you can select one option.
We also read:
"You need to select music to suit different events and audiences."
So, you can’t just always play one song.
That’s right!
We read here:
"DJs must be confident in skillfully guiding their listeners through an enjoyable experience using music."
Let’s take a look at a few of these words together, friends.
First, we see the word skillful or skillfully.
This means having the training, knowledge, or experience needed to do something well.
Okay, it’s like that word skill set, right?
So, if you do something skillfully, it means you are literally full of skill!
You could say:
"He skillfully kicked the soccer ball around the field and scored a goal."
Then we also have the word guiding here.
What does that word guiding mean, John?
To guide means to show or to lead someone to something.
Guide can also be a noun!
For example, a tour guide is someone who guides you—they show you or lead you somewhere.
That’s right!
And here, we see that the DJ is guiding people through this musical experience.
So, I guess what this means is that when you’re listening to a DJ and their music choices, you are kind of going on a journey, and they’re taking you from one song to the next for a particular reason.
That’s right!
If you’ve ever heard a DJ play two songs, they don’t just stop one song and then suddenly play the next one really loud, right?
They normally blend songs together—they’re doing something called mixing.
If you know about audio and music, you know that the word mix in audio is very important.
Of course, there’s a lot more that a DJ can do, but right now, we’re learning some of the basics.
Let’s first go to today’s InfoCloud to learn more.
Hello, everyone!
Welcome to InfoCloud!
I was listening to some music online the other day, and I came across a few different words that describe songs—for example, remix or mashup.
Well, I love talking about music! Both of those words describe ways of changing a song from its original track.
A track here means a recorded piece of music.
When an artist or producer mixes a track, they adjust many different things—for example, the speed, the volume of the music and vocals, and more.
Now, someone else could be inspired by a piece of music but want to add their own style or flavor to it, and there are lots of ways to do this.
Singing your own version of someone else’s song is called a cover.
It is unique from the original.
Someone, like a DJ, could make a remix of a song.
They might speed things up or add different beats or instruments; however, they still keep most of the original track.
How about a mashup? I really enjoy those!
A mashup is when parts of two or more songs are combined into a single track or mixed together.
Wherever you listen to music, usually, it is noted in the title if a song is a cover, remix, or mashup.
That way, you know something has changed from the original version.
Remix 或 Mashup
Remix 或 Mashup
So You Wanna Be a DJ?
So You Wanna Be a DJ?
Technology is a big part of the job, so DJs must be capable of using computers and music mixing software.
DJs must also be ready to think on their feet when their equipment does not work properly.
Finally, DJs must be good at working with people and organizations so that they can get more DJing opportunities.
今天的 Usage Tip
要介紹 be capable of 和 be able to 的用法。
形容詞 capable 和 able 都是「有能力的」意思,但是後面接的形式不同哦!
capable 後面接 of,再接動名詞或名詞。
able 後面則接 不定詞 (to + 原形動詞)。
所以課文中的:
"DJs must be capable of using computers and music mixing software."
也可以改為:
"DJs must be able to use computers and music mixing software."
但如果使用 capable 的名詞 capability 或 able 的名詞 ability,後面的用法則相同,都可以接不定詞 (to + 動詞)。
來看個例句:
The CEO had the capability to lead the company through the financial crisis.
這位執行長有能力帶領公司度過金融危機。
Well, friends, we’ve talked a little bit about music and entertaining people, but technology is really important for being a DJ.
What do we read?
Okay, we see here in our article that our writer has written:
"Technology is a big part of the job."
Let’s stop there for a moment and talk about what that means.
If something is part of the job, we are talking about a task or responsibility that needs to be done according to a specific job description.
I see! Something can also not be part of the job.
For example, you could say:
"I was here to build a house, but chasing away birds wasn’t part of the job."
Being a DJ has a lot of parts, right?
You have to be able to use computers—we read:
"So DJs must be capable of using computers and music mixing software."
We see that verb mixing again!
Mixing means combining songs or putting multiple songs together, doesn’t it?
That’s right!
And from my understanding, mixing can be done using software, like our article says.
But often, you also need specific equipment to do music mixing, like a computer or something similar.
So, if you want to do music mixing, you need to have the right equipment.
There’s something called a mixing board that you’ve probably seen, even if you don’t know its name.
It’s a big soundboard with different levers and buttons.
People can push the volume up on one song and bring it down on another—we call that mixing.
And you definitely see DJs in movies mixing, don’t you?
That’s right!
Now, in this next sentence, we see:
"DJs must also be ready to think on their feet."
This is a great phrase for you to know, friends!
If you’re someone who is able to think on your feet, it means you can react quickly, make fast decisions, and handle unexpected situations effectively.
Ooh! For example:
"When the rain canceled one plan, the company thought on its feet and moved the event to another location."
Anytime you’re doing a live event, you have to think on your feet.
That phrase really makes me think of not falling down.
Right! If you stay on your feet when something bad happens, it means you don’t get overwhelmed or knocked down.
So, thinking on your feet means you’re able to keep moving forward.
That’s a good point!
Alright, friends, time to review!
What kind of skills does a DJ need?
Practice saying it out loud if you’re by yourself, because it’s really important to practice speaking English out loud!
Okay—what type of skills do DJs need?
Well, we learned that DJs need a particular skill set.
They need to be able to select music to skillfully guide their listeners through an experience.
They also need to be good with technology because that is part of the job.
If their equipment isn’t working properly, they need to figure out what to do and think on their feet.
Finally, DJs need to have good people skills.
They need to be able to work well with others, show up on time, and network so that they can get more jobs.
That’s right!
If you’re a DJ, I hope you have plenty of DJing opportunities, and we really wish you the best in this exciting career!
Well, friends, do you want to be a DJ? Maybe!
That’s all the time we have for today.
My name is Ann Marie.

Hi friends, Welcome back!
My name is John, and today is a great day to learn something new.
So let’s do that together! My name is Ann Marie,
and you are joining us here on Studio Classroom, friends.
I hope you’re ready to learn about English and music today
because our question is: So, you want to be a DJ?
Ann Marie, can you review for us what we are talking about
when we talk about being a DJ?
Hi! Sure can, John.
As you know, friends, we are on Day Two of our article called So, You Want to Be a DJ?
Yesterday, we learned that DJs need a particular skill set.
They need to be able to select the right music,
take their listeners on a journey, and guide them through the music.
They need to be good with technology,
and they need to have the right kind of skills for working with people.
We have a lot more to learn about being a DJ today, friends,
so let’s get right into our first reading for the day!
So, You Want to Be a DJ?
If you dream of becoming a DJ, there are some key steps to follow.
First, decide if DJing is merely a hobby or your future career.
This choice will help you determine how much time and money to invest in it.
What skills do you already have?
What skills do you need to develop?
Hi, everyone!
Welcome to Language Lab. I’m Jack.
我們來看副詞 "merely",意思是「僅僅、只是」。
來看例句:
"Too shy to speak, the child merely smiled back at the stranger, hiding behind her mother."
孩子害羞得不敢說話,只躲在母親後面,對著陌生人微笑。
或者:
"I don’t know why the teacher was upset. I merely asked about the homework."
我不知道老師為什麼不高興,我只是問了作業的事。
"Merely" 的形容詞是 "mere",意思是「只不過是」。
例如:
"He was a mere child when he committed the crime, but the judge sentenced him as an adult."
他犯罪時只是個孩子,但法官卻把他當作成年人來判刑。
Friends, do you have a dream of doing something with your life?
I hope you do! And we read:
"If you dream of becoming a DJ, there are some key steps to follow."
So we’re going to get some advice here.
If something is key, that means it’s really important, right?
Exactly!
So when we talk about key steps,
we’re talking about having a plan to realize this dream or make this dream happen.
Here, we are going to start talking about these key steps.
We see the word first, which means this is number one on the list:
"First, decide if DJing is merely a hobby or your future career."
I love this advice, friends, because sometimes we really love doing something,
and that’s great! It can be a hobby, but maybe not our job for the rest of our lives.
Let’s talk about these words a little deeper.
A hobby is an activity that you engage in regularly for enjoyment.
Oh, okay!
I don’t know if you have any hobbies, but for me, fishing is a hobby.
Working out or reading books—these are not my career,
but they are fun things that I like to do.
Do you have any hobbies?
I do!
I enjoy going to cafés, trying new foods, and reading books.
Hiking is also another one of my hobbies.
This is a great topic for you to talk about in English, friends.
But we also see the word career. What are we talking about here, John?
A career is what you do for life and work.
Sometimes, we use the words occupation or job.
For example, someone could have a career as a police officer, right?
That’s right!
So, our first step in these key steps to realize your dream of becoming a DJ is to decide:
Is DJing a hobby, or is it going to be your career?
"This choice will help you determine how much time and money to invest in it."
We talk about investing money, and we talk about investing time.
What does that mean, John?
Well, when you invest something, it means you put something,
like money, into a project in the hope of getting something bigger back.
For example, last month, we talked a lot about investing your talents and energy into things, right?
That’s right!
So you can invest time, and you can invest money.
It just means hoping that something will come from that.
Now, you have to ask yourself a question:
"What skills do you already have?"
I think anytime you’re trying to decide on your career, friends, self-awareness is really important.
All of us have things that we’re really good at and things that we’re not so good at.
That doesn’t mean we can’t improve those things,
but it’s good to be honest with ourselves about what talents and skills we already have.
Absolutely!
And I think especially when you’re performing,
because people can be really mean to performers,
so you want to be honest with yourself.
I think it’s really helpful that our writer reminds us:
"You can still DJ as a fun hobby even if you never do it professionally."
Right! So if you love doing something, don’t lose hope, even if you’re not the best.
But we read a really important question here:
"What skills do you need to develop?"
Please remember this verb: to develop something means to grow and make something more mature or elaborate.
We talked about the word skills—we often use developing skills as a phrase.
That’s right!
And that’s what we’re talking about here in this lesson: developing skills.
Here’s an example of how you could use that in a sentence:
"If you want to be a singer, you need to first develop your musical skills."
Cool!
Well, friends, there are many different ways you can develop skills.
But let’s learn more about how to develop your DJ skills in the next section of our reading!
So, You Want to Be a DJ?
Listen to many styles of music and start building your music playlists.
Buy basic music-mixing software and practice creating a continuous flow of music.
This is done by smoothly fading one song out and another song in while keeping the party going.
Next, lets look at the adjective "continuous."
It means "uninterrupted" or "going on without stopping."
Here’s an example sentence:
"After spending my childhood in Hawaii, it is no surprise that the most soothing sound I know is the continuous sound of waves crashing against the shore."
我的童年是在夏威夷度過的,所以我所知道的最舒緩的聲音就是海浪不斷拍打海岸的聲音。
Or:
"Many experts are concerned that children’s continuous use of cell phones and video games may lead to poor social skills and emotional regulation."
許多專家擔心,兒童持續使用手機和電玩可能會導致社交能力和情緒調節能力變差。
The adverb form of continuous is "continuously," which also means "without interruption."
For example:
"I wouldn’t recommend visiting Seattle between October and March because it rains almost continuously during the rainy season."
我不建議在 10 月到 3 月之間去西雅圖,因為雨季期間幾乎一直在下雨。
Okay, friends!
So, the first step in deciding if you want to be a DJ is to ask yourself:
"Is this a hobby, or is this your career?"
We have a second step here.
That’s right!
We’re continuing with this part of our article,
and we see:
"You need to listen to many styles of music and start building your music playlists."
Now, we talked about the word "playlist" in yesterday’s lesson.
A playlist is a list of songs, and you can have different playlists for different occasions.
Yesterday, I gave the example of a workout playlist—music you listen to while you exercise.
But here, it’s saying that we need to build different musical playlists.
All right, friends!
We’ve talked about this verb "building" something.
Sometimes, we see it connected with the phrase "build up."
If you’re building up your playlist,
it means you’re adding songs to that list of songs—your playlist.
That’s right!
Now, we see another tip here in this next sentence:
"To become a DJ, you need to buy basic music-mixing software and practice creating a continuous flow of music."
From our Language Lab, you know that "continuous" means something that happens without stopping.
Oftentimes, you’ll see that the reason DJs are so skilled
is that they can transition from one song to the next without breaking the music.
This is an important skill to learn.
That’s right!
So, this is what being a DJ is all about—working with music.
We read:
"This is done by smoothly fading one song out and another song in while keeping the party going."
Let’s look at this word "fade."
We typically use it in two ways:
Fade in → the music gradually gets louder
Fade out → the music gradually gets quieter
That’s right!
You could fade in and get louder, or fade out and get quieter.
And I also like the word "smoothly" here, which describes how you fade songs in and out.
"Smoothly" means you are doing something without difficulty or without rough transitions.
This way, you don’t hear those awkward stopping points between songs!
Now, we have another fun phrase at the end of this sentence:
"To keep the party going."
What does that mean, John?
Okay!
Well, you’re not stopping the party when you keep the party going, of course!
But this phrase means to maintain the energy and excitement of something.
We usually use this phrase for real parties—like a birthday party—
but we can also use it for any exciting event that we don’t want to stop.
Yeah! That’s a great point.
For example, you could say:
"Everyone started to get bored, so she pulled out some games to keep the party going."
Now, it’s not that the party would have ended if she hadn’t pulled out the games,
but she wanted to make sure everyone kept having fun.
And you can also use this phrase in casual English in fun, creative ways.
For example, let’s say you’re at a restaurant with your friends.
You’ve all ordered food, but now everyone wants to try something new.
You might say:
"Hey guys, let’s keep this party going and order some more food to eat together!"
That’s a great point!
Okay, friends!
We still have more to learn when it comes to DJing.
We’ll learn about a few more ways to realize that dream—
but first, we need to go to today’s Info Cloud!
Hello, friends!
Welcome to Info Cloud!
I noticed you’ve been working extra hard, Garrett.
Hmm? Hey, Rex! You’re right!
I’m trying to turn things up a notch and get a lot done.
Turn… turn it up a notch? Can you explain that?
It means to make something more intense, exciting, or effective.
The way I used it, the phrase suggests being more productive and efficient.
I see!
So, it’s about increasing the quality or energy of what we’re doing.
Do you know where this saying comes from?
Of course! It comes from music.
When you turn up the volume knob on a sound system,
the sound becomes louder and more intense.
That’s right!
Volume knobs often have little marks called notches around them,
so you know what level the knob is at.
This phrase can also describe increasing the speed or intensity of other machines.
That’s why we use it more broadly to describe any increase in intensity.
You can turn it up a notch in sports, work, or even your personal goals!
turn it up a notch

這個短語的字面意思是「調高音響系統的音量旋鈕,讓聲音變得更大更強烈。」
因此,"turn it up a notch" 就有「提高我們所做事情的能量或強度」的意思。
例如:
"I need to turn it up a notch to meet my deadlines."
我需要提升一個檔次來趕上我的截止日期。
"Turn it up a notch" 可以廣泛地描述 任何形式的強度增加。

So, You Want to Be a DJ?
So, You Want to Be a DJ?
As you improve, develop your style and record your mixes.
Post your mixes online to get followers and make connections with other DJs to learn from them.
Experience is key.
Volunteer to DJ for local events and radio stations.
Build relationships with organizations and offer your DJ services.
The more people know about you, the more opportunities you’ll get to DJ!
Whether DJing for fun or for work,
you can use music to bring people together.
今天的 usage tip 是 "the more 怎麼樣" "the more 就越怎麼樣" 的句型是用來表達兩個事物之間相互遞增的關係。 the more 後面可借名詞來當作主詞,後面借動詞。
課文這句 "the more people know about you, the more chances you’ll get to DJ" 中的 people 是主詞,know 是動詞。
the more 後面也可以先接名詞,再接主詞加動詞,這樣名詞就變成動詞的受詞。例如本句的 chances 就是 get 的受詞了。
來看個例句: The more shortcuts you take in your work, the more problems will eventually surface. 你在工作中走的捷徑越多,最終浮現出來的問題也越多。
All right, friends, we were given some advice today about how to be a DJ.
First of all, make sure you’re serious about it. Is this a hobby or your career?
The next one is to learn how to play good music, listen to music, and learn about the technology to age songs.
Now, we get some more good advice. That’s right, we read here:
"As you improve, develop your style and record your mixes."
All right, we talked about developing your skills earlier. Now we’re talking about developing your style. Now, skills are the practical things you need to know how to do in order to complete a task. Style is something else. Style has more to do with your own personality and the way you do things.
That’s right, there are different styles of music, right? And they all sound different. Each artist has their own.
So, if you want to be a DJ, you need to find your style.
And we get some good advice about how to start using your style.
Okay, so one way we can do this is to record our mixes. Now, what is a mix exactly?
Well, a mix is the way that you have put two or more songs together, or it’s an arrangement of a song so it sounds a little bit different than the original.
What do you do with these mixes? Well, you post them online, and if you post them online, hopefully you get some followers.
Followers are people who follow after or are fans of someone or something.
When we talk about online followers, we’re talking about people who have subscribed or liked your content.
So, hopefully you get followers, and hopefully you also make a connection or make connections with other DJs to learn from them.
Very interesting.
So, making connections means to build a relationship, right?
That’s right. We talked a little bit about the idea of networking yesterday. This is where you are meeting people from your industry or making connections with people so that you can do business with them later.
Here’s an example of how you can use "make connections" within a sentence:
She went to the conference to make connections with other people in her field.
You can learn from other people if you make connections with them.
That’s right, and you’re learning from other DJs because, as we read, experience is key.
So, it’s really, really important to practice everything, and we see: Volunteer to DJ for local events and on radio stations.
Let’s talk about that word volunteer.
But first of all, we also see DJ used as a verb here: to DJ.
You could say I’m DJing tonight. Sorry, I can’t go out to dinner.
What does that verb volunteer mean?
Okay, so volunteer can be a noun or a verb. When it’s a noun, it means that it’s a person who freely offers to complete a task or take part in some type of work.
So, if you are volunteering, it means that you are offering what you can—your time, your money, or your resources—to someone for free.
So, the idea here is that in order to gain experience, you could DJ for local events for free. Then people will get to know who you are and maybe later hire you for paying jobs.
That’s a really good piece of advice for anything new. If you want to build your resume or your list of work things that you’ve done, volunteering is a great way to get some experience and to build connections.
So, we read volunteer for local events and on radio stations, build relationships with who?
It says here to build relationships with organizations and offer your DJ services.
Here’s our usage tip for today, friends:
The more people know about you, the more chances you’ll get to DJ.
I like that!
So, the more something happens, the more chances of something else happening there are.
Well, friends, we’re almost at the end.
We read: Whether DJing for fun or for work, you can use music to bring people together.
We had a song bring people together, actually, here on this show a few years ago, and bring people together means to cause people to come together and be close emotionally.
So, it’s great when things bring people together.
Here’s an example of how you can use bring people together in a sentence:
The community fair was designed to bring people together.
All right, friends, we have reached the end of our article, but we’re not done talking about it.
We’ll do that in just a moment, right after today’s fun fact.
Hello, fact friends, I’m detective Ernest Finder, and I have a fun fact for you today. Did you know that a DJ needs to drop something on purpose?
They must drop the beat! Ha ha!
The beat is the rhythm of the music, but a beat drop is the early part of a song where the drums become very loud.
That’s dropping the beat, and that’s today’s fun fact.
Okay, friends, time to talk about it! Ann Marie, are you ready?
I’m ready.
Okay, friends, talk about it! What is the most important skill someone needs to be a DJ?
Hmm, this is an interesting question because before reading this article, I didn’t really have an opinion about this, but after reading the article, I think I agree with that sentence we read today: experience is key.
Because this is true with almost anything new that you are trying to do.
The more you do it, the more you learn, and the better you will get at it.
And I think the verb listen is really important, really, for any kind of skill you want to grow.
But make sure you listen to styles of music, and you listen to your own music so it can be blended well together.
All right, friends, that’s all the time we have for today.
My name is Ann Marie.
And my name is John France. Thank you for joining us today, right here on Studio Classroom.
