據國外媒體PEOPLE的報導，芝加哥林肯動物園裡的黑猩猩不斷被遊客們「騷擾」，遊客們將自己的智慧型手機通過玻璃圍欄展示給黑猩猩觀看，導致黑猩猩開始出現「對屏幕上癮的症狀」。來自動物園裡的靈長類研究和保護中心主任「斯蒂芬·羅斯」（Stephen Ross）表示這樣的確造成黑猩猩的困擾，這是一種週期性的現象，當遊客們向黑猩猩展示自己手機上有趣的影片時，黑猩猩自然會覺得很有趣並且想要不斷地繼續看下來。不僅如此，黑猩猩甚至出現了一些脾氣上的改變，變得更有侵略性，注意力也逐漸變得渙散。其中處於發育時期的三隻雄性黑猩猩的反應更是激烈，對手機的使用更是達到了痴迷的地步。為了避免黑猩猩成為「網絡成癮者」或是「低頭族」，動物園趕緊在玻璃圍欄前豎起了一根繩子，讓遊客與玻璃保持好幾公尺的距離，避免遊客再次將手機遞給黑猩猩觀看。
