It's honestly a bit of a headache when you're just a few items short of finishing a major project, and right now, plenty of players are hitting a wall with Roots. If you're trying to track down an ARC Raiders BluePrint or just trying to wrap up the Avian Alarm mission, you've probably noticed these things don't just drop in every crate you find. They're technically classed as Uncommon, but they feel a lot rarer if you're looking in the wrong spots. Most people are hunting them for the Critical Warning Birds stage, which asks for four of them. It's not a huge number, but if you don't know where the nature-themed loot spawns are, you'll end up wasting hours in the wrong zones.
Scouring the Riven Tides Coastline
The best bet for finding Roots is definitely Riven Tides. You won't find these in standard toolboxes or high-tech industrial crates. Instead, you've gotta look for what the community calls "Nature loot." Think overgrown patches, washed-up junk on the beach, and those organic-looking containers tucked away in the greenery. I've had the most luck sticking to the northern parts of the map where the vegetation is thickest. Don't bother checking the middle of the mall or the high-tech labs for these. Just stick to the dirt, the bushes, and the shoreline debris where plants have taken back over.
Smart Farming Routes
If you want to be efficient, don't go in geared to the teeth. Take a light kit so you can move fast and carry more. Start at the shore and work your way inland through the natural zones. There are three main things to keep in mind: first, hit every plant-based container you see; second, don't get distracted by every firefight you hear in the distance; and third, extract the second you get what you need. It's way better to do three quick five-minute runs than one long thirty-minute slog where you end up losing everything to a stray bullet or a sudden ambush.
The Avian Alarm Grind
The main reason Roots are so hot right now is the Avian Alarm project. Specifically, that Critical Warning Birds page is a bit of a gatekeeper for progression. You need those four Roots, plus two Turbine Compressors, three pieces of Red Coral Jewelry, and that Leviathans' Crown Ship Model. Since Riven Tides is the go-to spot for most of this stuff, it makes sense to combine your runs. While you're poking around for Roots, keep an eye out for fertilizer or moss too, since they usually spawn in the same types of organic spots and you'll likely need them later anyway.
Wrapping Up Your Farm
Check the latest patch notes if things seem different after a maintenance break, but for now, the coastal nature spots are king. If you're struggling to find a specific BluePrint for sale or just need that last Root to finish your project, keep your eyes on the ground and stay away from the heavy combat zones. It's all about consistency and knowing the map layout. Once you get the rhythm of the Riven Tides shoreline, you'll have those four Roots tucked away in your stash before you know it. Just remember to keep your head down and prioritize those organic containers over everything else.
