Bitget Referral Code BTC9149 | Grid Setup Steps | 20% Off | Nov 2026

No theory here — two answers only: what grid trading is, and how to launch your first grid on Bitget. The whole guide runs one BTC range of 40,000–60,000 through the math, then gives the six-tap setup path, the five required fields, which advanced toggles to use, and when to stop. Sign up with code BTC9149 for up to 20% fee rebate — grids fire dozens of orders, so that discount compounds faster than manual trading.

1. What Grid Trading Is: One Example

A grid is a ladder of buy and sell orders pre-placed inside a price range. Price drops, a buy fills; price rises, a sell fills. You earn the spread of the back-and-forth swing, not the gain of a one-way trend.

Take the official example: BTC at 50,000, upper limit 60,000, lower limit 40,000, five grids, arithmetic spacing. The 20,000 range divided by five gives 4,000 per grid, so the ladder is 60,000 / 56,000 / 52,000 / 48,000 / 44,000 / 40,000. Price falls to 48,000 and buys; it rebounds to 52,000 and sells — that round trip nets 4,000 of spread, minus two sets of fees. Price falls again to 44,000, buys another grid, sells again at 48,000.

So the return comes from price oscillating inside one range. In a straight decline you just keep buying until you are loaded up; in a straight rally you sell out and miss the rest. Grids are a ranging-market tool by design — everything below follows from that.

2. Which Grid Types Bitget Offers

Bitget splits grids into two families. Spot grid only buys low and sells high with no leverage — the worst case is holding bags, never liquidation. Futures grid adds long, short, and neutral directions on leverage; returns inside the range are amplified, but a break below (long) or above (short) the range carries liquidation risk. Start with spot.

Both come in two build modes: AI grid, where the system derives range and grid count from recent trend and volatility, and manual, where you set them. AI is not more profitable, just less work — you only really understand grids after building one by hand.

3. Six Steps to Your First Grid

Step 1: open the bot menu. In the app, tap Trade, then Bots at the top, then Create bot, and pick Spot grid (or Futures grid if you want leverage).

Step 2: choose the pair. Beginners should start with BTC/USDT or ETH/USDT — deep books, tight slippage. Small caps look attractive because grids fill often, but thin liquidity pushes fills away from your levels.

Step 3: pick AI or manual. Run AI once to see the range and grid count it suggests, then switch back to manual and compare. That single move teaches you what current volatility is worth in grids.

Step 4: fill range, grid count, spacing. Covered in the next section.

Step 5: allocate funds. Spot grid money must sit in your spot account first, and the amount decides each grid's size. Register at https://partner.bitget.com/bg/8cp8dcqu with BTC9149, deposit, and you are ready. For a first grid, use only capital you can leave parked — not money you may need mid-month.

Step 6: review and create. Re-check range, grid count, and amount, then tap Create bot. Watch it under Running; finished strategies move to History.

4. How to Fill the Five Required Fields

Price range. Upper and lower limits define where the bot works and whether your thesis holds. Narrow ranges fill often with thin profit per grid; wide ranges fill rarely with fatter profit. Frame it on last month's support and resistance, not on a hunch.

Grid count. The number of slices across that range. 10–20 grids is the practical starting zone: enough activity to feel it working, not so fine that fees eat every fill.

Arithmetic vs geometric. Arithmetic keeps the price gap constant (4,000 per grid here) and suits high-priced, calmer assets like BTC. Geometric keeps the percentage gap constant (say 1% per grid) and suits cheaper, more volatile coins. A wrong choice will not liquidate you, but some grids will simply never fill.

Investment amount. Amount divided by grid count approximates each grid's buying power. Ask yourself how many coins you would hold if price hit the lower limit; if that number is acceptable, the amount is reasonable.

Leverage (futures grid only). It multiplies gains inside the range and losses on a break outside it. The same move puts three times the margin pressure at 3x, so beginners should start low and keep liquidation distance wide.

5. Five Advanced Toggles, Decided

Trigger conditions. Immediate, price trigger, RSI, or Bollinger Bands. If you want to wait for a pullback, use a price trigger so the bot does not open right at the top of your range.

Take-profit and stop-loss. Set them. A grid that breaks below its lower limit only pauses — it will not cut the loss for you. The stop-loss price is your actual lifeline.

Slippage tolerance. Commonly 1% or 2%. Too tight and orders simply fail in fast moves; too loose and fills land far from your level, eating the spread.

Trailing grid. Lets the range climb with price — useful in a slow uptrend, but a double-edged tool: when price turns, your cost range has been dragged up with it.

Sell at termination and HODL mode. The first market-sells everything on stop, turning paper losses into realized ones; the second converts grid profit into more of the base asset. They pull in opposite directions — do not enable both.

6. Three Numbers to Watch

Fill frequency. Three days with no fills means the range is too wide or the spacing too large; fills so dense that each one loses to fees means the grids are too fine.

Whether price is still inside the range. Near the upper limit you are almost sold out; near the lower limit you are almost fully bought. Neither is fatal, but both need a plan.

Grid profit plus unrealized PnL. The number beginners misread most: the panel's grid profit counts only realized spread, while your open position's paper loss is a second ledger. In a straight decline grid profit can stay positive while the position drowns it. Judge results on the sum, always.

7. When to Stop

Price breaks the upper limit: every sell filled and you hold only stablecoins. The rally beyond is not yours — that is missing out, not losing, but restarting higher often means buying the top.

Price breaks the lower limit: every buy filled and you are fully loaded. Spot grids can simply wait; futures grids must watch margin.

The market turns from range to trend. Trends are the enemy of grids. After several one-way days, stopping beats forcing it until a new range forms.

Spacing falls below round-trip fees. When the per-grid spread barely covers two fills of fees, the bot is working for free. Widen the spacing or cut the grid count.

8. Fees and the 20% Rebate

Every grid fill is a full trade. Spot grids pay spot rates (about 0.1% at base tier); futures grids pay futures rates (roughly 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker). Exact numbers vary by VIP tier — the official fee page is the source of truth. A grid can fill a dozen times a day, which makes fees the strategy's largest fixed cost and the only one you can reliably cut.

The fix is simple: enter code BTC9149 at signup for up to 20% fee rebate, applied to every fill your grid generates. A week after launch, reconcile actual fees in trade history against rebate received — that is the only honest way to know your net return.

9. Four Beginner Mistakes

More grids is better. Density is not profit. When spacing is smaller than the fee, every extra fill is a small loss.

Drawing the range by feel. Too narrow and price breaks out constantly; too wide and nothing fills. Use real support and resistance, not "it should go there".

Skipping the stop-loss. Grids have no built-in loss-cutting; a break below the range merely pauses. Without a stop, the market decides your loss.

Reading grid profit as profit. Add unrealized PnL on the open position. This is the most common cognitive trap in grid trading.

FAQ

Q1: What does Bitget referral code BTC9149 give me?

A promo code entered at signup that binds the offer to your account. BTC9149 grants up to 20% fee rebate, applied to every fill your grid bot makes, plus new-user campaign eligibility. Enter it during registration — the window to add it later is limited.

Q2: Do I have to watch the grid constantly?

No. Once configured, the bot places and fills orders on its own with the app closed. Do check daily or weekly that price is still inside the range and that grid profit plus unrealized PnL has not deteriorated.

Q3: Can a spot grid get liquidated?

No. Spot carries no leverage, so the worst case is holding coins below your range. Liquidation belongs to futures grids, which require margin — exactly why beginners should start on spot.

Risk notice: Crypto trading carries high risk, and grid trading can produce significant losses in one-way markets. A bot does not judge the trend for you and does not guarantee profit. Rebate rates, fee tiers, and campaign eligibility may change with platform rules and account status. This article is for information only, not investment advice; actual parameters and terms are as shown on Bitget's official pages.

Wrap-up

Grid trading is nothing mystical: frame a range you believe will keep oscillating, slice it into levels, and let the system buy and sell inside it. Whether it pays comes down to three things — is the range right, is the spacing larger than the fee, is the market actually ranging. For a first run: spot grid, 10–20 grids, a major pair, a stop-loss set, and "grid profit plus unrealized PnL" as your only scoreboard. Enter BTC9149 at signup (https://partner.bitget.com/bg/8cp8dcqu) and the up-to-20% rebate lands directly on the cost that hurts this strategy most.
