為什麼畫壁畫

我需要一塊空間，
一塊平面的空間。

讓形狀形成後，逐漸
變形，讓我的手臂
同握在手裡的毛筆一道
在冰涼的墨料中玩耍。

形狀帶回來的
是國畫大寫意中
表現出的平衡與和諧。
「陰」是留在宣紙上
的空白。「陽」是畫出來
的深淺不一的黑墨。  

空間是繪畫中的音樂，
白色不只是空白也是音調，
黑色是無聲的間隔。
樂曲飄出來，
消散在空氣內，
留下來的是筆畫。

Why a Mural?

I want space –

a two dimensional space.

To form form and forms

that change, while my arm

sways, my hand holds the brush to play

with the glacial acrylic paints.

Forms that bring back

the balance and the rhythm

of xieyi painting

where yin is left in the whiteness

of rice paper, and yang is limned

by the shades of gray and black ink.

A space for the music of painting

where white is not blank but tone

and black is the silent interval

cantata that springs forth from the air

vanishes back

and remains as brushstrokes
