今晚 7:00 有 Math Problem Solving Challenge.
這是我們這個城市西區的七所國中, 每年舉行的數學競賽. 每校派三人組隊參加. 今年是第十屆. 從第一至第八屆, 冠軍獎盃都是由 No. 1 Intermediate 拿走. 直到去年, 我們學校以 1題險勝, 贏了他們.
冠軍獎盃在我們學校擺了一年, 我們很希望能留住它.
比賽時間只有 45分鐘. 答完一題, 才能拿到下一題的題目. 一直到第三題, 我們和 No.1 Intermediate 速度一樣.
第四題 :
3 Pumps and a pool. A pump fills the pool in 12 hours, B pump fills the pool in 6 hours and C pump fills the pool in 4 hours, how long would it take to fill the pool if all 3 pumps goes?
我被卡住了.......
我們班的 Kandal 是第一次參加, 她很緊張, 一直回頭去看計分板 .....
"Justin, 他們已經答完第 5題了 ..... Justin, 他們已經答完第六題了..."
到了第七題 :
LO+TTO=LOT
我又被卡死了...... 他們的答題速度卻始終沒有慢下來.
比賽結束. 他們答了 19題, 我們只答完 10題. ....慘輸.
嗚 嗚 嗚 ~ 
冠軍獎盃 .... 被搬走了........

當然 解答出來時, 會更興奮

2. L+T=O+10
3. L=T+1
Therefore In 2: (T+1)+T=T/2+10 ---> T=6
O=3, L=7

These 2 questions took me 20 minutes until I got it clear.
Almost half of our 45 minutes.

1/12+1/6+1/4 = 6/12 = 1/2
So the answer is 2 hours.
Last time I almost had a similar question posted in my article. But thought it was too easy. Wish I did.
