日本隊主帥馬淵史郎13日接管日媒《Full-Count》採訪時霸氣示意，「我們輸不起任何一戰！總之，就是要看以此刻現有的戰力能和台灣拚到什麼程度？希望這場角逐能成為將來決賽的試金石。」馬淵史郎也默示，此次對台灣，不會是以試探性的角逐，「抱著進展能從對戰中看到本身優弱點的想法來全力奮戰，我但願能打出那樣的一戰。」最後他透露表現很期待之後的超等循環賽，但今朝的目的就是5連勝。
