年約六十的陳女士因長期飽受失眠困擾至衛福部新營醫院精神科求助,陳述身體狀況良好、無經濟壓力、家庭關係融洽,但就是睡不好;精神科主任許博彥醫師經過詢問,發現陳女士會擔心自己睡眠品質,尤其隔天有重要事情時會因為擔心反而徹夜難眠,對生活中許多瑣事也會預想最壞狀況,經診斷為焦慮症,除開立藥物使用,也指導關於放鬆訓練技巧,多管齊下陳女士焦慮症狀得到明顯改善,睡眠情況也明顯好轉。

許博彥醫師指出,焦慮症又有另一名稱為「自律神經失調」,是因為心理因素造成調控身體多項器官的自律神經出了狀況,因而產生多項身體不適症狀;許多人認為焦慮症是壓力造所成,但其實生活中再微不足道的事都會對情緒帶來影響,有些可感受得到,有些則是在潛意識中存放,久而久之則帶來影響。
許博彥醫師說,焦慮症可透過藥物及非藥物方式治療,有些患者排斥吃藥,認為靠自己放鬆即可,但有時愈想放鬆愈是讓陷入緊張、焦慮的惡性循環中,透過藥物協助可改善腦部部分神經傳導物質,增加抗壓性,對壓力或外在刺激不那麼敏感,進而改善焦慮症狀,也建議患者搭配腹式呼吸及放鬆訓練等非藥物治療方式幫助改善焦慮症狀,進而提升生活品質。
