劇本概要 

  《哈姆雷特》是莎翁四大悲劇(另三大是李爾王、馬克白、 奧賽羅)中最長的一部,也是最負盛名和最常被人引用者之一。

  《哈姆雷特》又名《王子復仇記》,是講述丹麥王子哈姆雷特為父報仇的故事。

哈姆雷特在父王猝逝之後,患了憂鬱症。國王去世未滿二月,王弟克勞地阿斯逕自宣佈繼承王位並與其嫂─哈姆雷特之母葛促德王后結婚。

  父王鬼魂出現在哈姆雷特面前,控訴克勞地阿斯謀殺他並要兒子復仇。於是,哈姆雷特決定假裝發瘋以掩飾自己的復仇意圖。由於哈姆雷特曾經向歐菲利亞示愛遭拒,致使歐父波隆尼爾斯 認定是愛情因素讓他發瘋。

  無法採取行動又鬼魂所言真假存疑,哈姆雷特說服一干演員來表演一齣類似鬼魂告訴他父王被謀殺場面的戲;克勞地阿斯看了這齣戲起激烈反應,使哈姆雷特確信叔父的罪行。

  後來,哈姆雷特在母親閨房與母攤牌,談話中哈姆雷特發覺有人躲在掛毯後面竊聽,以為那人是克勞地阿斯而刺死他,結果發現竊聽者其實是波隆尼爾斯。國王以此殺人事件為藉口要除掉哈姆雷特,於是把哈姆雷特遣送到英格蘭,羅珊克蘭蚩和吉爾登斯騰銜命陪同前往,並帶國王密函教英格蘭王置哈姆雷特於死地;但是哈姆雷特發現國王的詭計並設法返回丹麥。

  歐菲利亞遭受被哈姆雷特拒絕及父亡雙重打擊而發瘋以至自殺;她在巴黎求學的哥哥列兒替斯返國奔喪,打算為父親和妹妹之死復仇。國王煽動列兒替斯約哈姆雷特出來決鬥,列爾替斯所持是一把刀尖塗毒的劍;另外,為防哈姆雷特獲勝,國王還準備毒酒供他慶功。

  決鬥時,哈姆雷特在前兩場獲勝,葛促德不知情地喝下毒酒後仍不忘警告哈姆雷特酒已被下毒。後來,哈姆雷特被刺傷且中毒,接著反擊回去,同時也用毒劍刺中列兒替斯。斷氣前,列兒替斯對哈姆雷特坦承一切。憤怒的哈姆雷特也用毒劍殺了國王,逼他喝下毒酒,終於為父親報仇。
