駐台北韓國代表處則表示，盼北韓保持克制，停止升高緊張態勢，期盼兩韓維持和平穩定，才能一同促進地區穩定，更期盼東亞地區能穩定發展，良性互動更加密切。

一位涉韓外交人士接受《旺報》訪問時表示，金正恩統治下的朝鮮半島腥風血雨，他採用如此激烈手段，並非想要促成兩韓統一或是真正想發動武力戰爭，主要目的是要吸引國際關注。

這名涉韓外交人士認為，朝鮮半島長期處於國際情勢發展中的「弱勢區域」，為了凸顯重要性，讓國際更重視朝鮮半島，金正恩必須隔一陣子就向「較受國際關注的南韓」使用「激烈的威脅恫嚇手段」，藉此向國際發聲，除了鞏固權力外，更希望可以爭取到國際上的任何幫助。

他進一步表示，北韓這種威脅恫嚇的手段，短期內將會有增無減，北韓領導人甚至想因此獲取國際上的「金援」。
