Huge sloped pit at the bottom of stone (石底大斜坑)

During the Japanese governed period, this coal pit was opened in year 1939, and completed in year 1941. The entrance of this pit is located at 254 m sea level, and 120 meters northward from station Chin-Ton( 菁桐).

The main purpose of the construction of this pit was to concentrate all of the mined coals from the originally facilitated pits, No. 1, 2, 3 and 5 here, then delivered outward. And was connected to Washed coal field( 洗選煤場).

In this regard, the coal delivery outside the pit could be simplified and manpower could be saved a lot.

When this huge pit started the operation, the input and output of the originally facilitated coal pits were under its control.

Therefore, they only kept the function of air inlet or air ventilation.

And it caused the planned large scale infrastructures or building were constructed around the surrounding of this huge sloped pit since then. So there were complete interconnection network of the mining delivery facilities herewith.

And become as the major base of coal industry as owned by Tai-Yon Company ( 臺陽公司).

Tai-Yon Company ( 臺陽公司)shifted his Coal mining Department ( 煤礦部)to this location in year 1949, handled all of the relevant coal business issues here
