Dear all:
One of your classmates paid an impromptu visit to my desk and showed me the screen on her cell phone about the pronunciation of the word “resource.” First of all, I appreciated her effort and enthusiasm of learning the subject. However, like all of you, I need to go to the bathroom or grab something for a bite to get myself readied for the coming classes. It would be very kind of you to “raise your question in class” while we are still on, so your question and my response would be heard to you all.
Secondly, the pronunciation of the word “resource” is very tricky: you may consult the dictionary for two possible answers. Since most of you are not the habitual lovers of “printed works,” so here is a link to my research (accented on the first syllable as well) on youtube for your reference. Listen to the tone of the native speakers from Australia, the United States, and UK. You will find the exact answer we both look forward to it.
My office hour and e-mail are listed on the syllabus. Please do not hesitate to write me an email before you call on me at 10:00 am -12:00 pm, Wednesdays for consultation and further questions on Learning English. Uninvited visit and phone call are not encouraged. Thanks for your cooperation and attention.
Sincerely,
Prof. T. Sara Sun, Ph.D.
