Keep in mind the truths about career success in both good times and bad:
- The most qualified candidate does not necessarily get the job offer
- The best time to be working on your career is when your job is secure
- Remind yourself that graduation from school is the beginning rather than the end of your career
- When you get a first offer from a new employer, disregard it
- Keep your research up to date
- Put aside some time every week to network
- Keep acknowledging that if you’re not actively managing your career, then nobody else either
“The first essential in a boy’s career is to find out what he’s fitted for, what he’s most capable of doing – and doing with relish.” – by Charles Schwab
“You have got to name it before you can claim it.” – Dr. Phil McGraw
“No man is born into the world whose work is not born with him.” – James Russell Lowell
