clash (noun)

    A loud sound.
        e.g.: I heard a clash from the kitchen, and rushed in to find the cat had knocked over some pots and pans.
    A skirmish, a hostile encounter.
    A match; a game between two sides.
    An angry argument
    Opposition; contradiction; such as between differing or contending interests, views, purposes etc.
        e.g.: a clash of beliefs

skirmish (noun)

    A brief battle between small groups, usually part of a longer or larger battle or war.
    By extension, any minor dispute.
    A type of outdoor military style game using paintball or similar weapons.

snare (noun)

    A trap made from a loop of wire, string, or leather.

consistent (adjective)

    Of a regularly occurring, dependable nature.
        e.g.: The consistent use of Chinglish in China can be very annoying, apart from some initial amusement.
    Compatible, accordant.

accordant (adjective)

    Agreeing; consonant; harmonious; corresponding; conformable.
