Chris Medina曾經是星巴克的服務員，2009年，相戀8年的未婚妻Juliana Ramos在預計結婚前的兩個月，遭遇了嚴重的車禍，腦傷的Juliana智力只有2歲，坐在輪椅上生活無法自理。但Chris一肩挑起了照顧未婚妻的責任，不離不棄，無怨無悔。
這首Chris創作的「What Are Words」，正是他希望能告訴所有人：他對Juliana的愛和承諾。
2010年Chris參加「美國超偶」(American Idol)選秀節目，雖然僅止於24強，但過於感人的故事，讓Chris獲得了發行單曲的機會，並登上好幾個國家的暢銷榜首。
