My brother-in-law used to have lived in a single house which is nestled on the hill near Neihu county, for nearly thirty years, and my mother-in-law spent her last days there.  Two years ago, my brother-in-law moved to an apartment in Taipei City and left the house vacant, pending for sale.

Last month the house was finally sold to a new owner.  The other day, the new owner called my brother-in-law over the phone, saying her sister(?) is a medium who claimed the spirit of my late mother-in-law is still lingering in the house and hoping her families can bring her to where she should belong now.  So yesterday my brother-in-law invited my wife and me to the house again, where the medium performed some rituals as to "usher" my mother-in-law to her new home. 

I am an agnostic regrading religion, let alone superstition.  However, such a performance brought back the memories to my mother-in-law, who is a true lady with deep devotion to her families.  I miss her very much.
