All of a sudden, I saw a graceful lady of nearly 40 stood up and approached to those foreigners, trying to stop them. Apparently, she could not communicate with them in whatever foreign language, but with gentle gestures and friendly smiles, in no time she calmed those noisy dudes down. When I got off the tram at very next stop, I signaled to her with my thumb up as a salute.
P.S. Chinese people are usually inhibited in dealing with a situation like that, especially when there are foreigners involved. I did try to stop those guys myself, but when my wife, who sat next to me, knew my intention, she stopped me.
