由Bob Ferguson製作，樂評普遍正面．

這張專輯發行於帕頓開始單飛之際，此前她曾參與Porter Wagoner的每週電視節目和巡迴演出長達七年。

〔Jolene〕為首支單曲，在１９７３年１０月便提前發行，

歌曲由桃莉芭頓創作，講述一位家庭主婦與一位美豔的誘惑者對峙的故事，她懷疑這位誘惑者與自己的丈夫有染。

１９８８年，芭頓在舞台上告訴觀眾，〔Jolene〕這首歌是根據一個真實的故事改編的，也是她不太喜歡經常演唱這首歌的原因。

芭頓說，在她和丈夫卡爾·迪恩（Carl Dean）剛結婚不久的時候，一位紅頭髮的銀行職員經常在迪恩的當地銀行分行和他調情。

在一次訪談中，芭頓還透露，Jolene這個名字和她的外表都取材自一位上台索取簽名的年輕歌迷。

這位歌迷很可能是Juline Whelan，她的名字經常和Jolene混淆。

芭頓為了記住這個名字，唱起了“Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene”，才有了此曲的副歌部分。

 

2018年，芭頓在訪談中透露，她創作〔Jolene〕和《I Will Always Love You》是同一天。

芭頓在後來的採訪中表示，這兩首歌的創作時間“非常接近”，但不一定在同一天。

［Jolene］曾兩度獲得葛萊美最佳鄉村女歌手獎提名，分別是在1975年和1976年。

第一次提名是針對原版錄音，第二次則是針對電視節目《In Concert》的現場錄音。

雖然兩次都未能獲獎，但在2017年，無伴奏合唱組合Pentatonix翻唱的版本贏得了格萊美最佳鄉村組合/二人組表演獎；該版本邀請桃莉擔任客座歌手。

 

 

［Jolene］被樂評人譽為鄉村音樂中最具表現力的歌曲之一。

2014年，《滾石》雜誌將這首歌列入「史上最偉大的100首鄉村歌曲」榜單，排名第九。

這首歌在2004年《滾石》雜誌「史上最偉大的500首歌曲」榜單中排名第217位，並在2021年修訂版榜單中排名第63位。

在2024年的更新中，《滾石》雜誌將榜單擴展至“史上最偉大的200首鄉村歌曲”，並將［Jolene］排在第一位。
