專輯標題曲［Cherry Pie／櫻桃派］是首支單曲是（１９９０年８月推出）

由主唱Jani Lane創作，

由Beau Hill製作成一首華麗重金屬，旋律琅琅上口，節奏跌宕起伏，主唱歌聲狂野奔放．

 

 

 

哥倫比亞唱片公司總裁Don Ienner想要一首搖滾頌歌，於是他聯繫了主唱Jani Lane（據萊恩本人所述，他想要一首類似Aerosmith的《電梯裡的愛情Love in an Elevator》的歌曲），Jani Lane大約花了十五分鐘就寫出了這首歌。

吉他手Joey Allen表示：“那張專輯的整個營銷策略都變了。這完全是唱片公司主導的，而不是樂隊的。”

專輯名稱也從最初的［湯姆叔叔的小屋／Uncle Toms Cabin］改成［Cherry Pie／櫻桃派］。

 

這首歌的靈感來自威豹樂團（Def Leppard）的［Pour Some Sugar on Me》。

這首歌的歌詞寫在一個披薩盒上，現在這個披薩盒作為德斯廷公共空間（Destin Commons）的一部分，在佛羅裡達州德斯汀的硬石餐廳（Hard Rock Cafe）展出。

 

 

Beau Hill製作將其製作成一首華麗金屬／抒情搖滾曲，

旋律悅耳，Jani Lane沉鬱的唱腔演繹出面對女友背叛的痛苦心理．

吉他獨奏部分由重金屬樂團毒藥（Poison）的C.C. DeVille演奏，這是為了幫老友Jani Lane一個忙。

樂團成員普遍認為［Cherry Pie］並非專輯中的最佳歌曲之一，他們認為這首歌是一把雙刃劍：它為他們帶來了名氣，但也讓其他許多歌曲的光芒被這首熱門金曲掩蓋。

在VH1的紀錄片《重金屬：金屬樂的故事》第三集“致命造型”中，Jani Lane表達了對創作這首歌的後悔之情，他說：“我真想一槍崩了自己，就因為寫了這首歌。”

然而，他後來澄清說，在接受VH1採訪時，他正承受著巨大的個人壓力，並且對與這首歌的關聯沒有任何怨恨：

“我很高興能寫出一首至今仍在被傳唱、至今仍被這麼多人喜愛的歌。寫歌本來就很難，更何況是寫出一首經久不衰的歌。＂

 

 

MV被認為帶有冒犯性的性別歧視」。但導演Jeff Stein為影片辯護，稱其為戲仿之作：「它如此誇張，除了戲仿其他重金屬搖滾MV之外，還能有別的解釋嗎？如果有人認為它帶有性別歧視，那也只是因為它是對性別歧視的戲仿。」
