２００２年６月２１日，４０歲的日本歌壇天后松田聖子（Seiko Matsuda），以“Seiko＂名義，推出事業第３６張大碟──也是第四張英文專輯〔area62／六十二區〕（HIP-O RECORDS/flora records／Universal Music Group發行）

製作人有Robbie Nevil，Jez Colin，Nikolas & Sibley，Christopher Ward，Jay Condiotti ，Matthew Gerrard等．

這是她在海外發行的第三張專輯，進軍舞廳風格的電子音樂領域。

大碟主要在在舞曲界進行推廣。

 

曾參與她１９９６年英語大碟［WAS IT THE FUTURE》製作的Robbie Nevil也加入專輯製作。

〔area62〕也收錄了原田真二的作品。

美版和日版的專輯均提供不同的照片編輯選項，可透過專輯內透明托盤查看。

 

松田選擇〔area62〕這個專輯名稱，是因為她覺得自己在海外演出時，在當地人眼中就像個“外星人”，所以他把51區的編號改成了1962，也就是他出生的年份。

 

〔area62〕在美國以獨立專輯的形式發行，在日本則透過Flawless Seiko和線上管道以進口專輯的形式銷售。
