１９８７年，美國迪斯可女王唐娜桑瑪（Donna Summer）與美國Geffen唱片解約，但她在英國與歐洲仍與華納唱片簽約（後者自１９８０年後便負責發行她在海外的專輯）．

１９８８年，唐娜決定跟被稱為‘暢銷曲工廠’的英國製作三人組Stock Aitken & Waterman合作

１９８９年３月，桑瑪推出個人第１４張大碟［Another Place, Another Time］．

首支主打［This Time I Know Its for Real］登上英國榜排行榜季軍，拿到銀唱片（２０萬張＋），意外成為她從１９７９年後在英倫最暢銷的單曲

歐陸也反應熱烈　連帶紅回美國，成為她六年來首支Top１０與第１２張金唱片．

連帶讓［Another Place, Another Time］拿到英國專輯榜＃１７，成為唐娜十年來首度認證金唱片（１０萬張＋）的原創大碟

讓４０歲的桑瑪成功在歌壇東山再起．

１９８９年８月,唐娜推出大碟第四主打──北美第三單曲［Breakaway／擺脫］，只是並沒打入Billboard單曲榜

１９９１年初, 唱片公司重新混音［Breakaway］,製作成中板House／舞曲流行版，登上英國單曲榜＃４９,歐洲其它地區成績不佳

但在拉丁美洲則頗受歡迎．

 

其Ｂ面歌曲是［Thinkin Bout My Baby／想念我的寶貝］，

這是唐娜１９８７年專輯［All Systems Go／一切準備就緒］的曲目．

由桑瑪與Jeff Lams合寫，
