１９９３秋末，５２歲半的英國歌壇天王菲爾．柯林斯（Phil Collins）推出睽違四年第五張個人大碟［Both Sides／雙面］（Virgin(UK)／Atlantic (US)發行）

由菲爾製作，柯林斯完全獨立創作這張專輯，沒有與任何外部詞曲作者和表演者合作。

［Both Sides］最初評價平平，然而隨著時間推移，口碑逐漸回升，2016年再版的評價也更加正面。

《AllMusic》Stephen Thomas Erlewine打了 4 顆星（滿分 5 星），稱讚柯林斯在這張專輯中擺脫流行音樂的束縛，採用內省的藝術搖滾風格，他認為這張專輯「悄然引人注目」。

 

這回商業仍舊成功，但比上張大碟［But Seriously…］下滑不少，也標誌菲爾個人音樂事業的．
