１９７０年代末期 西洋歌壇天王艾爾頓．強（Elton John）聲勢下滑 進入事業低潮
１９７９年６月，３２歲的強推出迷你專輯EP［The Thom Bell Sessions (國際名稱［The Thom Bell Sessions 77)］（Rocket (UK)／MCA(US)發行）
當時強只跟作詞人伯尼陶本（Bernie Taupin），製作人Gus Dudgeon 合作
１９７７年下半年，艾爾頓想製作一張靈魂樂專輯，
讓他選擇與 R&B 歌曲作者／製作人 Thom Bell共事，
可是雙方關係很快變得困難。
儘管強渴望跟這名費城靈魂樂創作者合作，
但錄音過程並不順利，在完成整張專輯之前就結束，只完成六首歌曲，
１９７９年，強重新混音三首歌曲，以１２吋EP形式發行．
首支單曲是５月推出的［Mama Cant Buy You Love／媽媽買不到你的愛］
由LeRoy Bell＋Casey James (兩者為Bell and James團體成員)
Thom Bell製作成一首流行／靈魂／迪斯可，節奏輕快討好
R&B團體The Spinners提供和音
由於當時處在迪斯可高峰，［Mama Cant Buy You Love］銷售良好，登上美國Billboard單曲榜＃９，為強近三年首支前十名熱門曲，並拿到百萬金唱片
副榜－Easy Listening榜冠軍 靈魂榜＃３６
加拿大＃１０ 紐西蘭＃２０ 澳大利亞＃８２
這是艾爾頓少數舞曲風格的熱門曲．
EP［The Thom Bell Sessions ］則只登上Billboard單曲榜＃５１
由於［Mama Cant Buy You Love］成功
１９７９年１０月，艾爾頓．強順勢推出迪斯可大碟〔Victim of Love〕，卻遭到慘敗，
為他走紅後銷售最差的專輯（UK＃４１ US＃３５）
１９８９年２月，MCA唱片推出［The Complete Thom Bell Sessions］,
完整收錄強跟Thom Bell合作的六首費城靈魂樂歌曲．
２００３年，EP中的［Are You Ready for Love］重新混音後發行，成為艾爾頓第六首英國榜冠軍
