唸錯
其實, 沒甚麼大不了的, 因為我的英文很菜, 我並沒有譏笑人的意思,
只是遇到了, 想到了, 寫來給大家參考.
上週末有個電視政論節目共同主持人, 把英文的 suite 唸成 suit,
這兩個字因為平日常常用到, 所以我在此分享一則筆記:
suit [sut] soot 讀(素t)
A suit is a set of garments made from the same cloth, consisting of at least a jacket and trousers. (套裝, 西裝)
suite [swit] sweet 讀(絲威t)
In music 在音樂裡, a suite 組曲 is an ordered set of instrumental or orchestral pieces normally performed in a concert setting rather than as accompaniment; they may be extracts from an opera, ballet, (Nutcracker 胡桃鉗 Suite) or incidental music to a play (L'Arlésienne Suites) or film (Lieutenant Kije Suite), or they may be entirely original movements (Holberg Suite, The Planets).
A suite in a hotel 旅館套房 or other public accommodation, denotes a class of luxury accommodations, the key feature of which is multiple rooms. Many properties have one or more "honeymoon suites" 蜜月套房, and sometimes the best accommodation is called the "presidential suite" 總統套房.
蜜月, 本來就該 sweet! 對罷?

在台灣，很多人也常常用錯字而鬧笑話。譬如【時髦】英文是 Stylish，但不時聽到是 Fashion，這個 Fashion 還是個名詞，連形容詞都不是。 外國人根本聽不懂 某某人 fashion 是什麼東西。

找到兩者用法之例句, 很有意思呢! Stylish ~~ fashionable
That dress is such a good style it will be fashionable for years.
(這衣服的樣式如此之好, 定會流行好幾年.)
Style 這個字用途更廣, 我們在新聞學院的新聞寫作格式, 採用:
Associate Press (AP) 的 Style Book.

這個唸錯，無傷大雅還好．
有一次我堂姐寫e-mail 給我，他說我堂哥decease，把我嚇一大跳，但從她的文中得知，堂哥只是生病了disease．我後來跟她通電話，她竟然無所謂，真被她打敗！
disease, illness, sickness 都沒decease 嚴重, 妳堂姐果然兇悍

不光是方塊的中文字，外文也是ㄧ樣有邊讀邊嘛～
不過，這樣的毛病對我來說好像是家常便飯呢！
英語中有許多外來字, 沒法照字面發音, 學起來和中文的破音字一樣困難!
如大廚chef(謝夫)唸成酋長chief(氣夫)......
