水手日籍投手岩隈久志對小熊投出本季最慘一役，投3局失5分，寫下本季單場最短局數，最終水手以1：12不敵小熊，他也吞下第7敗，無緣寫下個人生涯最長的6連勝。

水手總教練瑟維斯（Scott Servais）說，「岩隈賽前肩膀就有點緊繃，玉山信貸試算 因此投完3局就沒讓他繼續上場，而且他的球路看起來並不刁鑽，容易讓對方逮到機會。」

賽後岩隈沒有以肩膀緊繃作為藉口，他透過翻譯表示，「沒事，我很好，只是沒辦法把球路壓低，投不進好球帶。」

岩隈在2局下被敲4支安打，丟掉3分；3局下則在1人出局、二壘有人時，被海沃德（Jason Heyward）敲出兩分全壘打，之後製造打者擊出飛球出局及送出三振化解危機，水手0：5落後。

小熊打者佐布里斯特（Ben Zobrist）說，「今年海沃德的運氣不好，打出的深遠飛球總在全壘打牆前被沒收；今天他打到球後，風順勢把球帶出全壘打牆，我真的很替他感到高興。」

岩隈3局投完共用60球、有40好球，提前退場休息。他說，「在比賽時我沒有感覺到緊繃或是痠痛，我認為我的肩膀已經鬆開，只是控球不太理想。」
