Sun Yat-sen (/ 12 November 1866 – 12 March 1925) was a Chinese revolutionary, first president and founding father of the Republic of China, and medical practitioner. As the foremost pioneer of the Republic of China, Sun is referred to as the "Father of the Nation" in both the Republic of China (ROC) and the People's Republic of China (PRC), and the "forerunner of democratic revolution" in the People's Republic of China (PRC). Sun played an instrumental role in the overthrow of the Qing dynasty during the years leading up to the Double Ten Revolution. He was appointed to serve as Provisional President of the Republic of China when it was founded in 1912. He later co-founded the Kuomintang (KMT), serving as its first leader.[3] Sun was a uniting figure in post-Imperial China, and he remains unique among 20th-century Chinese politicians for being widely revered amongst the people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
孫文（1866年11月12日－1925年3月12日），幼名帝象，譜名德明，字載之，號日新、逸仙。生於大清帝國廣東省廣州府香山縣翠亨村，祖籍廣東省東莞縣長安鎮上沙村。清末民初醫師、政治家、革命家，是中華民國及中國國民黨之創始人。流亡日本時，曾化名中山樵（Nakayama Kikori），廣為人知，後轉化為後世常用慣稱「孫中山」。1905年，在日本東京組成中國同盟會，被推為總理[參 5]:2936；確定「驅除韃虜，恢復中華，建立民國，平均地權」政綱，提出三民主義學說[。1911年12月29日，被十七省代表在南京推選為中華民國臨時大總統，1912年1月1日在南京宣布就職，建立中華民國臨時政府[1919年，將中華革命黨改組為中國國民黨1940年4月，國民政府明令尊稱孫中山先生為中華民國國父。
