 辛丑合約》，亦稱《辛丑各國和約》、《北京議定書》，是中國清朝政府與英國、美國、日本、俄國、法國、德國、義大利、奧匈、比利時、西班牙和荷蘭十一國在義和團運動結束、八國聯軍攻入北京後簽定的一個和平協定。被認為是中國自第一次鴉片戰爭後簽署的一系列不平等條約之一。條約簽定於光緒二十七年（1901年）9月7日（辛丑年七月二十五日），故名辛丑條約，亦有「九七國恥」一說。原條約原存於中華民國外交部，現存於臺北外雙溪國立故宮博物院。是中國近代史上賠款數目最龐大，主權喪失最嚴重的不平等條約

協定的正式名稱為「Austria-Hungary, Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Netherland, Russia, Spain, United States and China —Final Protocol for the Settlement of the Disturbances of 1900」（中國與十一國關於賠償1900年動亂的最後協定）。和約有中文與法文版本，但以法文為準。在國際法上，因為中國不承認與各國有正式交戰，事件是出於義和團運動。故此辛丑條約只屬於一個協定，而並非和平條約。

 The Boxer Protocol was signed on September 7, 1901, between the Qing Empire of China and the Eight-Nation Alliance that had provided military forces (Austria-Hungary, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States) plus Belgium, Spain and the Netherlands after China's defeat in the intervention to put down the Boxer Rebellion at the hands of the Eight-Power Expeditionary Force. It is often regarded as one of the Unequal Treaties.

北京55日的劇情簡介  1900年北京，慈禧太后當權、中國領土四分五裂。端親王力主出兵，並派義和團圍困外國使館，當千軍萬馬兵臨城下之際，美國軍官義無反顧，率領各國聯軍作困獸之鬥，終於扭轉命運，殺出重圍。 

尼古拉斯．雷執導的本片，背景為1900年慈禧統治下的中國，當時正是列強割據時代，在簽署各項不平等條約下，民不聊生，到處鬧饑荒，終於爆發了義和團之亂。

端親王欲藉義和團之手將列強趕出中國，便不斷殺害傳教士與外僑。以英國公使亞瑟為首的外僑為避免戰爭爆發決定留守北京，但在端親王的錯誤指使下，衝突越鬧越大，結果導致外強藉此入侵中國。清廷戰敗便以割地賠款來換得一絲喘息之機，卻導致國家的加速滅亡。

此片是以寫實為主，描寫了中國末代皇朝是如何滅亡的過程，此片中詳細描寫宮廷中的爾虞我詐等以及鬥爭。

55 Days at Peking

55 Days at Peking is a 1963 historical epic film starring Charlton Heston, Ava Gardner and David Niven, made by Samuel Bronston Productions and released by Allied Artists. The movie was produced by Samuel Bronston and directed by Nicholas Ray, Andrew Marton (credited as second unit director) and Guy Green (uncredited). The screenplay was written by Philip Yordan, Bernard Gordon, Ben Barzman and Robert Hamer, the music score was written by Dimitri Tiomkin and the song "So Little Time" was written by Tiomkin with lyrics by Paul Francis Webster. The cinematographer was Jack Hildyard.

In addition to directing, Nicholas Ray plays the minor role of the head of the American diplomatic mission in China. This film is also the first known appearance of future martial arts film star Yuen Siu Tien. Japanese film director Juzo Itami, credited in the film as "Ichizo Itami", appears as Col. Goro Shiba.

In the early years of the 20th century, Peking is an open city with the Chinese and several European countries vying for control. The Boxers, who oppose Christianity, are agitating against the foreigners and the western powers who still exercised complete sovereignty over their compounds and their citizens. The head of the US military garrison is Maj. Matt Lewis, USMC (Charlton Heston), an experienced China hand who knows local conditions well. The political situation is tense with the Boxers having the tacit approval of the Dowager Empress

Cixi fared even more poorly in cinematic works. Chinese films, such as Sorrows of the Forbidden City (1948), depicted her as a scheming harridan who suppresses the emperor and murders innocent concubines. In Hollywood, over-the-top characterizations of the Empress Dowager as a wicked Asian “dragon lady” became a staple, culminating in such performances as Flora Robson’s “yellow face” rendering in the 1963 film 55 Days in Peking.
