麥克唐納-道格拉斯AV-8「獵鷹II式」攻擊機(McDonnell Douglas AV-8 "Harrier II")是美國海軍陸戰隊現役攻擊機,能夠短距起飛/垂直起降(STOVL)。由英國航太公司設計,麥道公司製造。目前服役的型號為AV-8B和AV-8B+,兩者間的不同為後者經過改良,使用由F/A-18退換下來的AN/APG-65雷達。
AV-8B首次參戰為美國的沙漠風暴行動,包括了VMA-311、和VMA-542六個中隊,總數為86架。
VMA-311、中隊部署在距離科威特邊境183公里的沙特阿吉斯海軍基地的機場,而VMA-223和VMA-331中隊則分別部署於塔拉瓦號(LHA-1)和拿騷號(LHA-4)兩棲兩棲直昇機突擊艦上。
在整場海灣戰爭中,AV-8B共出動了3,342架次,飛行小時為4317小時,且投放了2700噸以上的彈藥。在該戰爭中,VMA-542中隊損失2架AV-8B,而VMA-311、中隊則分別損失1架,總擊落為5架,全數損失的AV-8B都是被地面防空火力擊落的。

The McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) AV-8B Harrier II is a single-engine ground-attack aircraft that constitutes the second generation of the Harrier Jump Jet family. Capable of vertical or short takeoff and landing (V/STOL), the aircraft was designed in the late 1970s as an Anglo-American development of the British Hawker Siddeley Harrier, the first operational V/STOL aircraft. Named after a bird of prey,[8] it is primarily employed on light attack or multi-role missions, ranging from close air support of ground troops to armed reconnaissance. The AV-8B is used by the United States Marine Corps (USMC), the Spanish Navy, and the Italian Navy. A variant of the AV-8B, the British Aerospace Harrier II, was developed for the British military, while another, the TAV-8B, is a dedicated two-seat trainer.
The project that eventually led to the AV-8B's creation started in the early 1970s as a cooperative effort between the United States and United Kingdom (UK), aimed at addressing the operational inadequacies of the first-generation Harrier. Early efforts centered around a powerful revamped Rolls-Royce Pegasus engine to dramatically improve the capabilities of the Harrier. Due to budgetary constraints, the United Kingdom abandoned the project in 1975.
