國民黨主席朱立倫和中共總書記習近平在4日的會談中，都提到「命運共同體」概念，朱立倫利用習近平在博鰲論壇提出的「亞洲命運共同體」概念，當面為台灣爭取參與國際事務的空間。

中共為朱習會做了細緻的準備，為表示尊重，習近平還走到預定舉行會談的福建廳外，迎接朱立倫一行；兩人都穿了黑色西裝、白襯衫並配帶藍色領帶。

會談開始後，朱立倫在習近平致詞後首先提到他對九二共識的論述。他指出，1992年在海基、海協很多前輩非常辛苦努力下，雙方達成了「兩岸同屬一中，但內涵、定義有所不同」的九二共識，把原來兩岸之間的對抗轉化成和解、交流，這樣的歷史也形成了兩岸交流的共同基礎。

朱立倫提到，台灣新世代希望兩岸交流能夠深化，也就是在九二共識的基礎之上，未來台灣有更多國際發展空間，在國際組織或活動上面，有更多機會。

朱立倫並引用習近平3月28日在博鰲論壇的講話，「未來亞洲是命運共同體，世界好，亞洲才能更好，同時亞洲好，世界才能好」。朱說，用在兩岸也一樣，兩岸好，亞洲才會好，亞洲好，兩岸才會更好。希望兩岸能攜手合作，共同面對亞太和平、環保或經濟合作問題。
