改良過敏體質、舒緩腹痛、胃食道逆流乃至減肥，平常保健，越來越多人選擇食用食用益生菌，但益生菌必然有益健康嗎？醫師提醒，有一些觀念對於選擇恰當的 益生菌是很主要的，像是保留體例和使用刻日也是采辦時一定要注意的細節，並且代價並不是決議益生菌的好壞結果，所以不要有貴的才有用的迷思。

新竹國泰醫院小兒科主治醫師李宥嫺示意，打從出身最先，本來無菌的腸道就開始漸漸地積累成長出每一個人自己的腸道共生菌叢，而每一個人的腸道會有哪些菌叢常住，包孕環境、飲食、種族、基因、身體狀態等都有著很大的影響。
今朝國表裏眾多研究皆測驗考試證實 益生菌可能發揮的功能和應用，像是最常被利用在腸胃炎的病患身上，可以改良拉肚子的症狀及縮短病情，另外，對於削減抗生素致使的腹瀉症狀亦有不錯的效果。
李宥嫺提示，民眾在采辦時，務必要清晰認識自己食用的產品，是不是為衛福部認證的及格品牌，且貴在精不貴在多，益生菌不是一次吃越多種越好，而是有用的一種就夠了。
別的，要注意的是，食用的益生菌數量必然最少要菌數1億以上才能闡揚出它應當有的效果；而就算益生菌基本上不算藥品，仍然仍是要注意包裝上的食用體例和留存體式格局，或扣問醫師或藥師准確的利用方法，以避免服用過量越吃越傷身。
李宥嫺強調，自己有免疫力問題的非凡疾病、早產兒、化療中的病患、服用非凡藥物可能影響免疫功能等，這些民眾在利用益生菌之前，應扣問醫師，經由醫師的專業評估後再決議是不是合適服用，因為這些族群是可能發生服用後併發症的高危險群，使用上必須極度隆重。
