總統提及，她在網路上看到一個新媒體，這家媒體辦了一個「未來大人物」的論壇。今年，這個論壇的標語是「大人有勢，我們更有事」。大人有勢的「勢」，是勢力的「勢」，我們更有事的「事」，是事情的「事」。她說，大人們掌握這個社會中比較多的資源，經驗也比較豐富，現在位居這個社會中許多重要的位置。但是，台灣現在的年輕人，有熱情、有衝勁，敢做夢，更重要的是，不畏懼大人的勢力，勇敢指出問題所在。

總統說，她的工作之一，是要解決這個國家所面臨的問題，一樣需要解決方案。解決方案，就是政策。不過，在新的全球化時代，因為網路跟科技發展，空間的距離縮短了、國家之間疆界變得越來越模糊。整個世界連結越來越緊密、關係越來越複雜，變化也越來越快速。而在這個時代中，過去可以規劃十年的政策，現在可能實施一兩年，就會面臨變化，需要做出調整。「這是我們所面臨的新時代，這就是我們所面臨的挑戰」。
