Photographs, one thing can capture times, what happened just then, telling what the world was like in the past.
These eight children were born in Calcutta's Red Light district, where is poor, hopelessness; their future might just stay there forever and follow their parents’ path—being a prostitute to survive or a drunk. To hope is luxurious to them under the poverty line. Zana Briski, who is a photojournalist, gives them cameras and teaches them how to see this world through their eyes, even trying to get the children out of the red light district and into boarding school. And they do show up their talent and feeling through their photos, which are invited to exhibit in many places.
Some people were born with terribly poor and despair. To face the reality, they accept what they have in life to make themselves go through it, giving up hope, dare not to dream. They do face the reality or they do fear to lose something called “faith”? Why not try to do a little more on dreams, why not try to see what’s gonna happen after efforts?
