The weather is warm, the sun is high. And if you listen closely, you can almost hear the crickets chirping (at least the flies have arrived). Yes, summer is around the corner, and our clothes have adapted accordingly.
Guess what fabric has a comeback to compete for Winona Ryders? It is cool, light and literally shouts summer of its airy fibers.

Ten points, you guess right, it's linen. Like the old, can-wear-it-because-it-crushes-but-god-it-sees-good-on-don-Johnson linen. The same. We wanted to wear all the linen in the day, but it went out of style, because it only looked good when you stood as stiff as a board and never sat down, otherwise you'd be a wrinkled mess. And we all know how popular wrinkles are.
How did it come back? I blame the housekeeping department because that trend started in the bedroom (what do you have no linens on your bed?) Linen became such a huge thing in cool household goods circles that it was only a matter of time before it began to appear in clothes , With simple shapes and naturally inspired colors.
But the linen trend really comes from our growing obsession with all organic. We want to be healthy, eat clean and cut something processed or chemical. It is only natural that this is reflected in household goods and fashion. There is a whole movement back to raw, uncut, materials with marble, wood and stone take over where once was white laminate in our houses. These earthy products make a harmonious package, and the logical extension is to choose a fabric that is as untreated as possible for your clothes.
In addition, linen says summer like a raspberry slurpee. Like a gaytime from the corner business. Like the smell of sunscreen on hot skin. Like the sound of the ice truck in a sweltering suburban street. Like a soap slinger.
As with any fashion trend, there are certain rules, but it is hard to get linen wrong this year. It is softer than its last incarnation, which means that the wrinkles are diminished so that it will keep its look much better than in the 80s and 90s. And everyone can wear it - big girls, little girls, older girls, younger girls. It's all in the pieces you choose.
1. Go for a soft color. There is something wonderfully clear about white but natural beige, soft blues and pinks are all beautiful. I believe you stumble into a dangerous area, such as bright pinks - the obvious putrefaction of the living color conflicts with the roughness of the fabric. It's not very organic, is it?
2. Linen looks particularly good with pale denim. Everything white works that is not linen, but you can also matchy matchy and pair the linen separates in the same color.
3. This is a trend that looks good loose - slim skirts, soft shirts and airy shorts - but also this season there are some form-fitting pieces that fit tightly to the body and do not lose their shape. There is nothing better on a balmy night than an invested linen dress and a Lychee martini.
4. Select your shapes carefully. A sacky shirt and sacked pants can look a bit too mature. For older women: do not select the off-the-shoulder-waist, unless you can really pull them off.
5. Do not let yourself be ironed. It is about the softness of the fabric. Stiff linen does not quite meet that organic hot spot.
