*see sb. off = to go to the place that someone is leaving from in order to say goodbye to them

*radiance = happiness,beauty,or good health which you can see in someone's face

*in a muddle = an untidy or confused state

*solicitor+attorney = legal representative

*pro = in favor of

*overhear = to hear(sth. that was said to another person) by accident

*disdain = to refuse to do (sth.) because of feelings of dislike or disapproval

*synonymous = having the same meaning

*taciturn = tending to be quiet : not speaking frequently
