Santenay is a southern Côte de Beaune appellation in Burgundy, renowned for its robust Pinot Noir reds and a smaller production of crisp Chardonnay whites.

Location and Overview

Santenay is located at the southern extremity of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy’s Côte dOr, encompassing the communes of Santenay and Remigny ia+1. The appellation was officially recognized in 1937 and is the southernmost prestigious Village AOC of the Côte de Beaune proper
+1. The vineyards benefit from a continental climate with warm, dry summers and long, cool winters, and the area is more exposed to westerly winds than northern Côte de Beaune regions

Grape Varieties and Wine Styles

The region produces predominantly red wines (approximately 85% of production) from Pinot Noir, with a smaller proportion of white wines (around 15%) primarily from Chardonnay

. Santenay reds are typically medium-bodied to full-bodied, with deep black-cherry color, firm but refined tannins, and aromas of red berries, violets, rose petals, and hints of licorice

. The whites are bright, mineral-driven, and floral, often showing notes of citrus, orchard fruits, bracken, and hazelnut

Santenay wine is produced in the communes of Santenay and Remigny in Côte de Beaune of Burgundy. The Appellation dorigine contrôlée (AOC) Santenay may be used for red and white wine with respectively Pinot noir and Chardonnay as the main grape variety. The production consists of almost 85% red wine, and a little over 15% of white wine. There are no Grand Cru vineyards within the Santenay AOC.

土壤：	在海拔500米的地方土壤为灰色的石灰岩，海拔高度大约300米的地方为鲕状石炭岩、白鱼卵石、泥灰岩和肾形石灰岩。

桑特奈产区位于伯恩丘（Cote de Beaune）的最南端。该产区于1937年获得法定产区地位，大体上是红葡萄酒的天下。
