.Santenay is a southern Côte de Beaune appellation in Burgundy, renowned for its robust Pinot Noir reds and a smaller production of crisp Chardonnay whites.
Location and Overview.Santenay is located at the southern extremity of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy’s Côte dOr, encompassing the communes of Santenay and Remigny +1. The appellation was officially recognized in 1937 and is the southernmost prestigious Village AOC of the Côte de Beaune proper
Grape Varieties and Wine Styles:The region produces predominantly red wines (approximately 85% of production) from Pinot Noir, with a smaller proportion of white wines (around 15%) primarily from Chardonnay

Santenay reds are typically medium-bodied to full-bodied, with deep black-cherry color, firm but refined tannins, and aromas of red berries, violets, rose petals, and hints of licorice Santenay wine is produced in the communes of Santenay and Remigny in Côte de Beaune of Burgundy. The Appellation dorigine contrôlée (AOC) Santenay may be used for red and white wine with respectively Pinot noir and Chardonnay as the main grape variety. The production consists of almost 85% red wine, and a little over 15% of white wine. There are no Grand Cru vineyards within the Santenay AOC.
