隨著科技前進，詐騙手法也層見疊出。就有一名男人日前收到多則要求他重置Apple ID和暗碼的訊息，早有警醒的他開初決定疏忽，隨後卻接到多通來自「蘋果（Apple）」的未接來電。男子過後回撥並照著對方的說詞操作，怎料提供驗證碼後，短短兩秒鐘的時候，電子錢包內的65萬美元（約1900萬元新台幣）加密資產竟全數被盜光，令他十分懊悔。
報道指出，詐騙團體透過iCloud自動備份功能，來存取利用者的MetaMask數據，其中就包孕相當於電子錢包暗碼的助記詞（seed phrase），因此在男人告知對方驗證碼後，欺騙者才能透過iCloud獲得助記詞，敏捷地進入電子錢包偷光加密資產。對此，MetaMask並未賜與回應，不外官方18日在推特發文，建議若有開啟iCloud資料備份功能的用戶，最好勾銷MetaMask的備份，避免資產遭竊。
