While pink is easily the most popular colour in beauty products, it's long been the reserve of cheeks and lips, but this season a sea change is coming - pink on eyes.

Shades of pink eyeshadow have been appearing on runways and red carpets for the last few months (Emma Stone, Jessica Biel, Lily Collins and Rihanna are all big fans) and while some are in bright or deep pinks designed for maximum impact, it's a colour that can also work very nicely in real life.

Side note - it's also about to become the biggest thing in wedding beauty too, with Pinterest's 2017 wedding report showing a 45 per cent rise in people saving ideas for pink eyeshadow.

The right shade of pink shadow is actually much more versatile, and flattering, than you might think - it's just a matter of finding it. As with any eyeshadow, your eye and hair colour and skin tone will dictate what works, so give some thought to whether warm or cool tones suit you, as well as how subtle, or eye-catching (literally) you want your shadow to be.

If you're not quite ready to commit to purchasing a pink, test the waters at home using blush.

Two takes on the trend I recommend are shimmery pale pinks, which also act as a highlighter and can be worn alone or worked into a subtle monochrome look using the same or complementary shades on cheeks and lips, or a darker, smoky strawberry-ish pink best created by starting with a base of coppery bronze followed by a layer or two of a red-pink.

For a day look, keep things understated with dewy skin and barely-there everything else, but for evening or special occasion, turn the tone up and if you're feeling brave, pair with a red lip aka Lily Collins.

Three rules that must be observed with pink eyeshadow to prevent you looking like a demon or a severe allergy sufferer: tone down any redness in your skin with a creamy concealer and foundation, make sure to create a "barrier" between the colour and your eye with black liner and lashings of mascara, and use colour only on your mobile lid.Read more at:bridesmaid dresses | evening dresses adelaide
