在國際政治圈，不僅中華民國第一夫人周美青愛穿舊衣，其實就連美國第一夫人蜜雪兒、英國凱特王妃，也經常穿舊衣出席公開場合。一般人處理舊衣，多把舊衣直接丟回收箱，凱特王妃更加節儉，把款式老舊的衣服重新修改，再穿上好幾回，連平民百姓都要自嘆弗如！
