都市角落的那個演唱會場地是城內有名的，許多不管是搖滾、電音、嘻哈的表演都在那邊舉行，也是這個城市的地標之一。雖然不是我必須要完成的心願，但是這次的樂團卻是我想加入我的名單的活動---粉紅馬丁尼。不管他們已經換過幾種語言，用幾種腔調，讓我兩腳一直跳著拉丁舞步，那天晚上，我最忘不了的，卻是「Hey, Eugene」這首歌......
It was the Crystal Ballroom when I heard this song at the first. Even though, I was still struggling and fighting to get a job to stay in Oregon, but as soon as I heard this song, I knew something I am going to miss so dearly.
Of course, the song is talking about an affair that goes no where but with only with resentment. With melodramatic words and sounds, I don’t hear any regret in there. It was a calling, and something that would stay in my mind. Here, Eugene is the place I stayed for my maturity. In this big amount of time in my life, I saw the wide big world in a small little town called Eugene. See, the town walked out of my life. It has been in my mind since I stepped into its heart, and will be there forever.
It has always been in my “Oregon must-do list” to go to a Pink Martini concert. This album came out in 2007, but I heard this song in 2005 I believe or even the end of 2004. As soon as I heard this song, I knew that this is going to be my ultimate Eugene soundtrack. I was always curious why I did not see this song in PM’s previous album, “Hang On Little Tomato” because the concert was a release party for that album. That’s okay. The wait even made it more dramatic and made some sort of sense.
Rufus’ album… funny eh… How typical of that period of life? After that, I own two Rufus’ albums too, but that was before I went to PM’s concert. Hey, this note also goes to Roby. Roby, I know that you might not see this, but I will never forget how much fun and how much we went through together during those years. A big hug, and a super big THANK YOU. Anyhow, I think that’s enough for now.
