這位第一夫人在賓州拉薩爾大學(LaSalle University)一場群眾大會上，從未提到共和黨候選人川普(Donald Trump)的名字，但毫無疑問的，她是在警告選民，候選人川普和總統川普是一樣的。
蜜雪兒告訴滿場聽眾「總統職位不會改變你是誰，而是會揭露你是誰。」
蜜雪兒提到川普在第一場總統大選電視辯論會上的一些發言，包括他明顯承認有些年未曾繳稅，而他自認這樣很「聰明」。
蜜雪兒說：「如果一個候選人反覆無常、具威脅性，如果一個候選人在選戰中以偏見、恐懼、謊言行事，如果一個候選人認為不繳稅是聰明的，或者認為人們失去房屋是好生意；如果一個候選人經常發表侮辱女性的言論…很遺憾的，這就是這個候選人的本質…而這也是他們未來成為總統的樣子。」
蜜雪兒說，美國需要一位穩定、謹慎的領導人，因為在做出攸關和平或戰爭的決定時，「總統不能不理性的亂講話或衝撞。不，我們需要一位成年人(an adult)在白宮。」
蜜雪兒隨後在匹茲堡大學(University of Pittsburgh)參加民主黨造勢大會時，也再度發表類似的談話。只是把用字換成「grown-up」。她讚揚民主黨總統候選人希拉蕊是一位不屈不撓、具同情心的戰士，絕不會退縮，而且熱愛國家。蜜雪兒說：「經驗很重要、準備很重要、性情很重要…希拉蕊具備這一切。」
