In this guide, we will walk you through the process of activating the temperature display mode on a Mercedes using the DTS Monaco software and the VXDiag VCX SE Benz diagnostic tool
running Xentry 2025.06. This tutorial will also cover how to switch temperature units from Fahrenheit to Celsius and customize other display settings.
Tools Required
-
DTS Monaco Software – Used for coding and diagnostics.
-
Battery Charger (35A recommended) – Essential for long coding sessions to prevent battery drain.
The Issue: Temperature Display
On many Mercedes models, the temperature of the coolant isn’t displayed numerically (e.g., 90°C, 130°C) in the service or progressive menus. Additionally, the default temperature unit may be set to Fahrenheit instead of Celsius. Today, we’ll show you how to enable numerical temperature display and switch Fahrenheit to Celsius using the VCX SE Benz scanner and Monaco software. We’ll also adjust other settings, such as fuel consumption units (liters per 100 km, gallons, etc.) and pressure units (bar).
Step-by-Step Guide to Coding
Here’s how to activate the temperature display and customize units:
1.Connect the Scanner
-
-
Use the new VXDiag VCX SE scanner, connecting it to your vehicle via Wi-Fi.
-
Ensure the ignition is set to the second position.
-
Plug in your battery charger to maintain power.
-
2.Launch DTS Monaco Software
-
-
Open Monaco and select your project for the Mercedes model (in this case, a 213 model).
-
If you encounter an error, double-check that the scanner is properly connected. The software should indicate that the VCX is “available.”
-
3. Configure Settings
-
-
Navigate to the Variant coding menu for the 213 model- ECU-IC213- 007 Country Coding Write.
-
Adjust the following:
-
Temperature Units: Change from Fahrenheit to Celsius.
-
Cold Scale Menu: Enable numerical temperature display for the instrument cluster.
-
Other Units: Set fuel consumption (liters per 100 km), distance (kilometers or miles), and pressure (bar) as desired.
-
-
Once all settings are adjusted, click “Coding” to apply the changes.
-
4. Verify the Changes
-
-
Go to the “Diagnosis” section in DTS Monaco and connect to the IC (Instrument Cluster) for the 213 model.
-
Perform an “ECU Reset” to ensure the new settings take effect.
-
-
-
Check the service menu, AMG menu, or sport menu on the vehicle’s display. You should now see numerical temperature readings (e.g., 50°C, 90°C, 130°C) and Celsius instead of Fahrenheit.
-
Results
After coding, the temperature is now displayed numerically in the service, AMG, and sport menus. The units have successfully switched to Celsius, and other settings like fuel consumption and pressure are updated as configured. The VXDiag VCX SE Benz performed flawlessly during this process, proving to be a reliable tool for advanced diagnostics and coding.
