The Huawei Mediapad X1 comes with a 7-inch IPS display that runs of resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels at 323ppi. Colorful Emotion UI looks really good with these settings and, as with the Ascend P7, you can adjust the settings, but the warm tone it covers everything with does not really go away, no matter how much you tweak the display calibration settings.
As with almost all its devices, Huawei has gone with an in-house SoC to power the X1. The Hi-Silicon Kirin 910T, a quad-core processor running at 1.6 GHz per core with 2GB memory.
The performance takes a hit with this chip, with micro-stuttering evident when opening apps or scrolling between screens. If you want to increase the graphic details, stuttering and framerate drops are evident, but for the casual gamer the MediaPad X1 7.0 comes with just enough processing power.
The MediaPad X1 7.0’s battery offers a capacity of 5000mAh, one that performed well during our battery tests. In everyday life, the MediaPad X1 kept going for one and a half to two days easily. During this time, we have primarily used the tablet mainly for surfing, listening to music through the integrated speakers, and for watching videos.
With such a handy device like the MediaPad X1 7.0, most people will think you’re just using a large phone. Therefore, Huawei has used a 13 megapixel main camera – complete with an LED flash – that helps get high quality photos when you’re out and about.
The MediaPax X1 7.0 is much better than many other 7-inch tablets. In low light areas, there is some noise and the images are a bit too dark. Still, for a tablet, the MediaPad X1 7.0 has a really good camera.

Why do we still get a high-end tablet in August 2014 running Android 4.2.2, is a mystery to us. The Emotion UI visually reminds us of the user interface on Huawei’s Ascend P7, now much flatter and tidier, but still quite colorful and playful.
