不盈章第四

道沖，而用之或不盈。淵兮似萬物之宗；挫其銳，解其紛，和其光，同其塵， 湛兮似或存。吾不知誰之子，象帝之先。

4. Limitless 

The Way is a limitless vessel;

Used by the self, it is not filled by the world;

It cannot be cut, knotted, dimmed or stilled;

Its depths are hidden, ubiquitous and eternal;

I dont know where it comes from;

It comes before nature.

道以空虛為用，保有此空虛而不讓他盈滿，如此淵深而有如萬物的宗主。消除它的鋒芒，解除它的紛亂；應和它的光明，與它蒙受同樣的塵垢。看似沉沒消失而又彷彿存在，我不知它是誰所生的，大概是在天帝之前吧。
