南韓自殺率稍降 但仍居高檔

南韓首爾市及全國2012年的自殺率出現6年來首次下降。由於全南韓及首爾市的自殺率名列全世界最高之列，因此儘管自殺率仍高，但出現下降畢竟是好現象。

首爾2012年的自殺率為萬分之2.38人，比2011年的2.69人下降，主要是由於20多歲者的自殺率大幅下降。首爾市政府將自殺率下降歸功於多項防止自殺計畫，包括加強諮商服務及熱線電話等。

2012年南韓全國的自殺率為萬分之2.81人，也比2011年的3.17人下降，但仍比已開發國家平均自殺率萬分之1.25人高出一倍。自殺是南韓的第四大死因，次於癌症、心臟疾病及中風。
