果鐵鐵探（Inspector Ghote）是基亭筆下最著名的探長，他是印度孟買的刑事探長，表面上很風光，實際上卻是大英帝國官僚體系下一個不受人尊重的當地警探，但是他卻總是找到方法解決疑案，這個系列把大英帝國殖民主義與印度文化的衝突描寫的極為深刻，也將小說的層次提的更高．
