Nov 2026 Copy Trading | Bybit Referral Code BTC9149 | Up to 58% Off
Summary: Copy trading on Bybit looks like two taps — pick a trader, hit copy — but the outcome is really decided by six fields on the setup screen: investment amount, trailing stop, per-order stop-loss, per-order take-profit, max slippage and the cumulative loss cap. This guide covers how copying works, which of the three products to use, what to check on a trader's profile, how each parameter behaves, and how the fee discount differs from profit sharing. 1. What gets copied: three products first
Copy trading on Bybit is not a single feature but three separate products, all under More in the app: Copy Trading Classic copies USDT perpetual contracts, Copy Trading TradFi copies perpetual positions in gold, crude, indices and other traditional assets, and Copy Trading Pro serves more advanced needs. Parameter fields and funding minimums differ between them, and mixing them up is the first thing that trips people.
The mechanism is simple: a Master Trader opens a position in their account, and the system mirrors one in yours according to your settings. Two limits matter from day one — you only copy trades placed after you start following, so positions the trader already holds are not backfilled, and what gets copied is the entry and exit action rather than a share of their account. Your return will therefore not match theirs exactly.
Master Traders are not working for free. They take a share of your cumulative net profit, set by level: 10% for Cadet and Bronze, 12% for Silver, 15% for Gold. It only applies when you are in profit, never on losses, but it comes straight out of your gains and belongs in any honest performance calculation.
2. Three costs to price before you follow
Beginners read a trader's return as their own. The gap comes from three costs:
- Trading fees: charged on every copied entry and exit, at your own rate, independent of the trader's tier.
- Profit sharing: 10% to 15% of cumulative net profit, settled in one go.
- Slippage and entry gap: your fill is usually slightly worse than the trader's, invisible in any statistic but compounding over time.
Subtract all three and you get what you actually keep. So when a profile shows 80% ROI over 30 days, do not celebrate: that is the trader's own account performance, before your fees, profit sharing and slippage, and it does not mean you would replicate the same percentage.
3. Choosing a trader: five numbers better than ROI
The leaderboard sorts by ROI by default, which is also the column most easily flattered by a short rally. These five tell you more:
| Metric | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Days live | Under 90 days is a reference only; the sample is too short |
| Max drawdown | Matters more than ROI — it decides whether you can sit through the bad stretch |
| Followers and AUM | More followers and larger size usually mean the strategy has been tested by more people |
| Average holding time | High-frequency short trades are most exposed to slippage; longer holds replicate more closely |
| Strategy drift | Does the last three months look like the six months before it |
One detail that misleads people: positions and history on a trader's profile are not real time — they refresh roughly every five minutes. The position you are looking at may no longer be the one they hold.
4. Smart vs Advanced copy mode
The first choice on the setup screen decides the size of every copied order:
| Item | Smart Copy | Advanced Copy |
|---|---|---|
| Position sizing | Fixed ratio from the trader's order cost against their available balance, applied to your balance | You set a fixed margin per order |
| Leverage | Follows the trader | Follow trader, fixed, or per-contract custom |
| Best for | First-time followers who do not want to tune every field | Traders who want to cap risk per order |
An example: the trader's order costs 10% of their available balance, and you have 1,000 USDT available at that moment, so the system copies an order of roughly 100 USDT. You do not need to understand their thesis — keep the capital ratio and the structure you copy will be close.
One mechanism people miss: SyncMaster. If the trader has it enabled, you cannot edit parameters when following — their settings are applied directly. Seeing that flag means you are handing over control of your risk settings, so decide before you click copy.
5. Six fields that set your maximum loss
All six live on the setup screen and remain editable afterward:
- Investment amount: usually 100 USDT minimum in Classic, though the trader may set a higher bar that is shown on the card. TradFi copy trading starts at 100 USDx and caps at 1,000,000 USDx.
- Trailing stop: a drawdown rate off your account's recorded equity high. When triggered, all positions close at market and the copy ends. If equity runs 500, 450, 600, 900, 800, 1,000, 800 and you set 20%, the exit lines are 400, 400, 480, 720, 720, 800, 800 — it fires when equity touches 800. It only ratchets up, never down, which is what separates it from a normal stop.
- Per-order stop-loss ratio: defaults to 0%, meaning off. With a fixed margin of 100 USDT and 50%, that order exits automatically at a 50 USDT loss.
- Per-order take-profit ratio: same logic on the upside, closing without waiting for the trader.
- Max slippage per order: defaults sit between 0.5% and 1.5% depending on the pair; anything beyond the threshold is not copied. Tighter protects your entry but raises the failure rate.
- Perp Copy Stop Loss (PCSL): a cumulative loss cap per trader. Leave it empty if you do not want one.
Two advanced fields are worth setting at the same time: max position margin per contract, which stops copying once cost accumulates to a limit, and max daily position limit, which stops new entries after a day's total. In extreme conditions with several orders filling at once, the actual amount can slightly exceed the configured value.
6. From sign-up to your first copied trade
- Register and pass KYC: copy trading sits inside derivatives, so an unverified account cannot reach the page. Registering through the link with code BTC9149 is the quickest path: https://partner.bybit.com/b/BTC9149
- Fund the right account: Classic draws on your Unified Trading Account; TradFi copy trading needs USDx first.
- Open the copy trading page: More, then Copy Trading, then Classic or TradFi.
- Pick a trader and tap Copy: open the card and read the full track record first.
- Confirm mode and the six fields: for a first run, use Smart Copy and set trailing stop plus per-order stop-loss.
- Accept the agreement and confirm: the copy goes live and new positions from the trader flow into your account.
To add or reduce capital later, adjust the investment amount in the copy management page. To leave, cancel the copy — open positions remain yours to close or hold.
7. Four situations you will run into
- The trader closes first and your TP/SL is cancelled: by design. The position no longer exists, so the attached order lapses.
- The trader survives, your position is liquidated: common. Different entry, leverage and margin mean a different liquidation line — copying is not shared fate.
- A position sits on a suspended instrument: after a stock split or similar corporate action the instrument halts, and even after cancelling the copy you cannot close or transfer until trading resumes.
- Following several traders at once: TradFi copy trading allows up to 10. The count is not the issue — overlap is. Three traders long BTC is one risk made three times larger.
8. Fee discount vs profit sharing
These two are often confused. The trading fee goes to the platform on every entry and exit; profit sharing goes to the trader and only appears when you are in profit. A discount can only change the first one.
Start with the discounted rate in place from registration: binding referral code BTC9149 gives you a 33% trading fee discount, and turning on MNT fee deduction in your fee settings stacks on top for up to 58% off trading fees, plus new-user benefits. With many copied orders opening and closing, that 58% shows up directly in net profit — but the trader's profit share is still calculated at the original ratio and is not reduced by your discount.
The discount lowers your cost base; profit sharing takes a slice of the net after costs. Only by counting both do you arrive at your real cost of trading.
9. FAQ
Q1: What is Bybit referral code BTC9149 and where does it go?
It is a sign-up code that binds a referral relationship to your account, which is how the trading fee discount and new-user benefits are determined. The field is on the registration page and fills in automatically when you arrive through a coded link. It is unrelated to which trader you follow.
Q2: Does a referral code make copy trading fees cheaper?
Yes. Binding the code gives a 33% trading fee discount, and enabling MNT deduction stacks for up to 58% off, applied to every copied entry and exit. Profit sharing to the trader is a separate charge on net profit and is not affected by the discount.
Q3: I have never traded derivatives. Can I start with copy trading?
You can, but treat it as tuition rather than passive income. Use Smart Copy, start at the minimum investment, set both the trailing stop and the per-order stop-loss, and watch one full month before deciding whether the drawdown is something you can live with.
10. Risk warning
Copy trading involves leveraged derivatives, and losses can exceed the assumptions behind your initial capital. At high leverage a small adverse move can trigger liquidation. A Master Trader's past performance does not guarantee future returns, and your actual ROI will not match theirs because of slippage, differing entry timing, different leverage and margin, and independent liquidation lines. Profile data is not updated in real time and may differ from live positions. Investment minimums, profit-sharing ratios, parameter fields and funding thresholds may change with account status and official announcements — confirm live values on the setup screen before copying. This article describes the product flow only and is not investment advice.
11. Bottom line
The barrier to copy trading is low, but the defaults are not your defaults. Judge a trader by drawdown and time live, not by the ROI column. Fill in the trailing stop, per-order stop-loss, max slippage and PCSL — those four fields are your real risk boundary. On cost, fees can be discounted and profit sharing cannot, so keep the two separate when you judge returns.
