Many new Bitget users only ask whether BTC will go up, when to enter, or long vs short. But after real trading, final result depends not only on direction, but also on fees, spread, slippage, trade count, scaled fills and funding rate.

Using BGOfficial can give up to 50% trading fee rebate, subject to current campaign.

1. Profit is not just price movement

100 to 102 looks like +2%, but real result also deducts buy/sell cost, fee, slippage and spread.

2. Trading Fee

Spot buy/sell and futures open/close may create fees. Base reference: spot 0.1% maker/taker, futures 0.02% maker / 0.06% taker.

3. Short-term trading cares more about fees

If target is only 0.3%–0.5%, cost becomes large relative to edge.

4. Bid and Ask

Bid = buyer price. Ask = seller price. Gap = spread.

5. Spread is also cost

Buy at Ask, sell at Bid, small loss may appear even with no price move.

6. When spread widens

Volatile moves, illiquid pairs, quiet hours, news, clustered orders.

7. Slippage

Difference between expected price and actual average fill.

8. Why Market slips

Market order takes available liquidity; if first level is thin, it fills next levels.

9. Large orders need depth

Check order book and market depth.

10. Limit controls price

Limit is not profit guarantee; it sets acceptable price.

11. Limit may not fill

You trade execution chance for price control.

12. Market vs Limit

Market = speed. Limit = price control.

13. Scaling adds trades

More fills = more cost.

14. Overtrading hides cost

More trades raise fee, slippage and emotional mistakes.

15. Futures Funding Rate

Perpetual funding is between longs and shorts, not a Bitget fee. Commonly every 8h. Funding Fee = Position Value × Funding Rate.

16. Longer hold not always costlier

Depends on product, frequency, funding, style.

17. Floating PnL is not final

Realized PnL deducts fee, slippage, spread, funding.

18. Rebate matters for frequency

19. Rebate is not risk control

Does not fix leverage, stop loss, sizing or revenge trading.

20. Four checks before trade

profit space, max loss, cost, worth it after cost.

21. Do not overtrade tiny ranges

Volatility alone is not a trade reason.

22. Add cost column

Journal fees, slippage, spread, funding.

23. Cost-to-profit ratio

High ratio means frequency or execution may be the problem.

24. 7 cost mistakes

  • ignore spread
  • assume Market = shown price
  • more trades = more profit
  • scaling = safe
  • only floating PnL
  • ignore funding
  • trade for rebate

25. Checklist

  • pair
  • Spot/Futures
  • Market/Limit
  • Entry/Exit
  • max risk USDT
  • slippage risk
  • funding relevant
  • FOMO
  • worth after cost
