Each position manages its own collateral. BTC and ETH positions calculate risk independently. One position liquidation usually does not take other isolated positions’ collateral.

💡 Extra: you can add margin manually to one isolated position, but that increases funds at risk for that trade only.

UTA available collateral is shared across eligible positions and orders. One losing position may consume whole-account collateral, improving capital use but increasing overall risk.

Isolated: control how much margin this position may use.

Cross: manage how much margin the whole account can risk.

Liquidation may trigger when Mark Price touches the position Liquidation Price. Bybit mainly uses Mark Price, not Last Traded Price.

⚠️ Mark Price can hit liquidation before the latest traded price, so a stop based on last price may fill late.

When Account Maintenance Margin Rate reaches 100%, the account may enter liquidation. Displayed liquidation price is dynamic and changes with equity, other PnL, available collateral and maintenance requirement.

Shared collateral can push one position’s reference liquidation price farther, but continuous loss can drain account-wide collateral. Risk spreads from one position to the whole pool.

Initial Margin (IM): collateral required to open a position.

Maintenance Margin (MM): minimum collateral to keep the position open.

💡 Extra: IMR and MMR often rise in tiers with notional size; VIP tiers may lower them. Check Bybit official margin schedule.

Higher leverage reduces initial margin buffer, so smaller adverse moves may approach liquidation faster. Actual PnL depends on notional value and price change, not the leverage number alone.

Isolated: per-position caps, separate strategies, limit one bad trade’s spillover.

Cross: multi-position accounts, higher capital efficiency, but whole-account MMR must be watched.

Bybit UTA Spot Margin Trading does not support Isolated Margin. It supports Cross Margin and Portfolio Margin only.

UTA defaults to Cross. App derivatives page → top-right three dots → Margin Mode → choose mode → Switch Margin Mode → confirm. Margin Mode is account-level; switching may be blocked by insufficient collateral, open positions, spot borrowings or immediate liquidation risk.
