* “Rocking Horse Winner”
- “There must be more money” à major conflict (母親把希望放在小孩身上)
- 1st paragraph = describing about mother’s appearance à 作者對母親的依
賴不能斬斷而產生其他感情因素
- “Where are you going?”; “Where I wanted to go” à 媽媽對小孩的冷漠導致小
孩會想要引起媽媽注意,如果到最後都沒有成功,那麼小孩也會變得冷漠
- Mother: not productive; ex. “I will se if I can’t make something,” but she did
not know where to begin. à wanted to help to gain more money, but did not
success any better (卻喜歡嫌棄她的男人)
- Father: do nothing worth doing à “your father has no luck”
- Rocking horse: Ironic à 馬一般很會跑但是木馬只會在原地踏步
- What is luck? It is what cause you have money.
- Better born with luck than rich (fortune) à if you’re rich, you may lose your
money, but if you’re lucky, you will always get more money.
- “He wanted luck, he wanted it, he wanted it.” à 展現出小孩子的執著以及想
被媽媽關心的感覺
- “Now take me to where there is luck! Now take me!” à fairy tale, 像青鳥一
樣帶來幸運
- Springs = 木馬有加彈簧,會前後搖擺像是有聽到別人在說話
