現年44歲的「小甜甜」布蘭妮（Britney Spears）成為近年出售音樂版權的眾多藝人之一，其他包括老牌搖滾巨星布魯斯史普林斯汀（Bruce Springsteen）、美國傳奇歌手巴布狄倫（（Bob Dylan），以及哥倫比亞流行樂天后夏奇拉（Shakira）與美國華麗搖滾重金屬Kiss合唱團。
美國媒體報導，這批權利由音樂出版商PrimaryWave買下；該公司旗下名將雲集，包括美國流行音樂天后惠妮休斯頓（Whitney Houston）、知名雷鬼歌手巴布馬利（Bob Marley）、流行樂壇傳奇巨星王子（Prince）等傳奇巨星的作品。
歌曲出版權的持有人，凡是作品被播出、專輯銷售，或用於廣告與電影時，都可獲得相應報酬。
持續成長的音樂版權市場，讓藝人得以將歷年作品變現；在串流時代下，這些作品對投資人而言是具吸引力的長期資產。
除了Recognition Music Group、Concord MusicPublishing等專業投資機構外，索尼（Sony）、環球（Universal）和華納（Warner）等大型唱片公司也紛紛拓展此一領域的業務。
